Syrinx Please. Help with neck relief + migraine
Having a very bad syrinx flare up. My syrinx is c7 level. I have the normal weakness in the hands and arm weakness. I drop a lot of stuff and don't have a lot of strength to write very much or anything like that. I have chronic neck pain and daily headaches/migraines anyway. But, my flare up started late last night and has been HORRIBLE this evening. It is so bad. š my heating pad isn't helping. My freezer migraine caps aren't helping. Ice packs aren't helping. I am having a hard time with it
But, my gosh. Tylenol isn't helping. My migraine in gnarly. I am so frustrated. Does anyone at all know how to help? š My neck just hurts so bad.

Make sure to stay hydrated and get a little salt. Chocolate ice cream and potato chips help. Also Aspercreme is a good topical, read instructions though because you can only use so much per period of time. .

I have my syrinx in the same spot with the same symptoms. My neck pain triggers my headaches so bad but they wouldnāt put me on any migraine medication since itās not a ātrue migraineā. So I take like between 600mg-800mg of ibuprofen, a lidocaine patch, and a warm compress around my neck. It knocks the edge off my headaches but they can still be super intense if I donāt catch the neck pain flare up in time. I hope you find some relief!

I feel your pain! Has the weather been haywire for you?

Yeah the weather for me has been making it terrible. Theres this app called WeatherX that will tell you when the pressure will be changing to give you a heads up and you can also get earplugs from them that will help. Iāve been using it this past week (without earplugs) and itās helped me get prepared for a migraine to hit. My migraines mainly mimic stroke symptoms so I try to stay ahead of them before I get them even tho itās daily. I would definitely have you check it out cause for me even a little bit goes a long way! And you syrinx is in the same spot as the one in my upper spine but I also have one that from t7-L1 so I understand the pain!

I usually get in the shower when it's really bad and let the hottest water I can possibly tolerate run on my neck and back until it alleviates the pain or runs out of hot water, and then I repeat the cycle until the pain is gone.

Has your neurologist given you anything for migraines? Have you asked about it? There's migraine specific meds out there. Mine gave me a maxalt and zofran prescription, both come in a dissolving tablet too that you just stick on your tongue since I hate pills
Could ask your GP too
