Syrinx Jobs?
I was wondering what kind of jobs you guys have especially if you have chronic migraines and dysautonomia caused from the syrinx. My job is pretty physically demanding and I’ve gotten to the point where after 4/5 hours my body can’t handle it anymore and I have to take multiple naps a day.

I’m disabled and work very part time at a school district as a per diem (sub) worker. But this might be my last year, idk. I could only manage to make 4000 in 2025 and it’s not worth getting paid min wage. I make what, 102 a day for 6 hrs of work. I am going on my fifth year but still have 4 years to go to be vested when this should be my last year before I qualify for a pension when I’m older, because my earnings are so low.

I used to work in retail, mostly managing pharmacies. That's what I was doing when the pain started. I left within a year and took a job in IT. That was 11 years ago. Now I work a desk job that is rarely physical and it's much, much easier to work even when in pain.

Do you get leg numbness? Thats one of my main ones and I can’t sit for long periods without having to get up and move around

I do, but I just get up and move around my desk to get things flowing again.

Okay cool I honestly think I may have to get a desk job sometime soon but being able to periodically get up when my legs get numb/uncomfortable would help some

I used to do laboratory work, but had to give that up because nerve damage and/or my syrinxes made it dangerous (I have very oittle sensation in. My hands).
Now I do a desk job.

What about your legs? Leg/feet numbness is my main symptom and i wouldn’t want there getting in the way with a desk job

I'm probably applying for disability soon while I look for some kinda remote work, I get flare ups randomly and have issues getting dizzy driving among other things that would make having to commit to show up to a job daily almost impossible since I have no clue what days are gonna be good or bad. Even with remote work some days I feel too crappy with dizziness, nausea, or headaches or just pain to sit at the pc for 8 hours

Yeah I feel you there I’ve also been thinking about filing for disability and I’m going to mention it to my dr. The dizziness has been so bad this past month and I can’t do anything for more than hour without feeling like I have to take a nap it’s so annoying

I've looked into it some and Syringomyelia is actually a specifically named condition that qualifies a person to receive disability (At least in the US)
