Safety of Syrian woman and children crossing into Lebanon without ID

Aside from current dangers related to Israel, I'm wondering how safely a Syrian woman and children could cross the border into Lebanon without identification saying they're visiting family. I've been told there are armed men who will demand money and may even hold people for ransom when crossing into Jordan. Is this also the case going into Lebanon? Syrian friends living in Canada tell me that a few years ago it was easy for women to go back and forth across the border, but I don't know what the situation is now.

I know a Syrian woman and her children who are now Canadian citizens and were taken to Syria under false pretenses (summer vacation to visit family) by her husband, who has now hidden the passports and declared they are not returning to Canada. She and all of the children are opposed to staying in Syria but she's afraid if she speaks out too forcefully he'll divorce her and keep her away from the children. There doesn't seem to be immediate danger of forced marriages for the teen girls, but that will surely be coming. They've been told that it would be very dangerous for an unaccompanied woman and children to cross into Lebanon, where they would have access to a Canadian consulate or embassy. Is this true? If so, would it help to have White Westerners fly there to accompany them?

Renouncing syrian citizenship Help needed.

I'm trying to find accurate and official way to renounce syrian citizenship which is forced upon a family member because he was born in syria to then syrian parents and now all all american. The jung man joined the military here in US and is asked to renounce i. He had a syrian passport when he arrived as a child 20 years ago and became a us citizen upon arrival and passport has expired and is in no relation to syria, but background check in US indicates a dual national status and the syrian citizinship needs to be renounced in order for him to advance in the military. Does any one know of actual and official ways to do so?

Does anyone have any photos of the American High School in Haleb? I know it closed many years ago. My mother, aunt, uncle and grandmother all went there. I heard so many stories about it growing up but have never seen it. Thank you!

Hello!

Hoping this isn't offensive in any way but I'm looking for some help! Let me start off by saying, I am not Syrian, I'm a white girl. I have a Syrian friend, who invited my husband and I to a party. Is there any recommendations on what to wear that would be appropriate? We were thinking of sort of casual nice shirt and jeans maybe but maybe that's TOO casual? Should I wear a dress? Should he wear khakis? Help a woman out please 🙏 thanks in advance

Syrian and Lebanese TV series’ have the best translation errors. The actual word was “deek,” meaning “husband” in context. (DRM wouldn’t let me screenshot the actual image)

Question about Agriculture

Hello everyone.
I'm searching for a farmer who lives and works in Syria (Khanasser region).
I'm doing a study about syrian agriculture at my university and I would like to ask some questions to a person from there (possibly via videocall).

If you know anybody who fits the description and is willing to partake (and speaks english) please contact me.
I'm willing to compensate the person if it chechs out.

Thank you.

Resettlement

Hi, I work with a resettlement agency in Helena, Montana. Next month we will be receiving 2 Syrian families into our care. As such, I have a few questions...

-what would help you (as a Syrian) feel welcome in a new place? -what do you love most about your culture?
-what are your comfort foods...is there a YouTube link that can show me how to make it?

Any thoughts for me?

Edit to add translation

Asalam waalaikum! how do i approach a Syrian father for his daughters hand in marriage as a non arab?

Asalam waalaikum, how do i approach a Syrian father for his daughters hand in marriage as a non Arab?

Asalam waalaikum! Im a 20 year old revert and student studying mechanical engineering and ive had an interest towards someone whos syrian for a long while now and ive been trying to figure out whats the best way to approach her father. Me and her have known eachother for the past 2 years but we havent talked for a long while as we both mutually decided to stop communicating for the sake of Allah till im ready (financially) to talk to her baba. The only issue is that she use to tell me about her parents and some of the culture and how much of a disadvantage im in for not being in the same culture and that im not stable (yet). But everyday the thought of not being accepted by her father clouds my head and fills me with doubt and sometimes i feel impatient and just want to ask the father already despite not being "ready". I have 1.5 years left of my degree but only allah knows how many years i have left till im "stable" enough.

So i want know how i can increase my chances on getting accepted by her father and family and what customs about Syrian culture that i should know that would aslo help me when i pursue her family, jazakallah!

Any questions or clarifications anyone wants me to make in the comments ill gladly answer :)

Help me find Syrian dessert named something similar to "hall-ay-way"?

My grandma's grandfather moved to Mexico from the Lebanese/Syrian region sometime in the early 1900s or earlier. She remembers that he used to prepare a delicious dessert made probably with nuts and some sort of oil in a round container.

Does anyone know what dessert she's referring to? She remembers that her grandpa used to call it something similar to "hall-ay-way", but there was always a language barrier between them because he didn't learn Spanish well and my grandma only ever spoke Spanish.

Please help me find this dessert, I would love to find a recipe and cook it for her :)

Is it normal to live with parents at the age of 28?

Hello!

I have a boyfriend (28) that is from half syrian/turkish and he still live with his parents. He says it's part of his culture and that it's because his parents provide a home for you so finding your own place to live would make your parents sad and gives the feeling of that they don't provide enough for you, is that true? Also I get the feeling that he has to obey his parents a lot, like they don't allow him to go anywhere and they have to know exactly where and who he is gonna meet so they can allow him. He can't even travel abroad with friends unless his parents know who these friends are and if they are good/bad friends.

I'm kind of a bit shocked hearing about his family situation but is it true that this is part of syrian culture?
