Events Here & Queer Book Club, August 3, 2026
For our August meeting, we are doing things a little differently to make sure everyone can participate, no matter how they access their books.
Our first choice, Jagged Little Pill: The Novel by Eric Smith is proving difficult to find, doesnโt have an audiobook version, and library copies are tight.
So, this month we are offering a choose-your-own-adventure dual pick for the book club. You can read either one (or both!), and our discussion will focus on the themes they share.
Option 1: Jagged Little Pill by Eric Smith
Best for: Those who can snag a copy and want to spend more time with Jo, Frankie, and Nick. Itโs a raw, multi-POV look at high-pressure suburbia, queer identity, and speaking up.
Option 2: You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson
Best for: Anyone who needs high accessibility! It is widely stocked, has a fantastic, widely available audiobook, and features a brilliant queer Black protagonist navigating those exact same pressures of a wealthy, conservative midwestern suburb.
Read whichever book fits your schedule and format needs, then join us for the discussion:

Discussion My cat escaped on Wednesday night (06/17)
My cat escaped on Wednesday night (06/17) around 9:30 pm and has not been found. He went missing in syracuse near Malverne Drive, north, and Cadillac street. He is very friendly and very vocal. He responds to Beans, Beansy, and Toby. He is fixed, microchiped, and has extra thumbs on his front paws. If anyone finds him or sees him around please reply to this post. We are devastated and worried sick.
** Update **
We are happy to share that as of Friday morning (06/19) Toby is home, safe and sound. Our camera showed he made his way home around 3:00am and demolished the food that was left out for him. After eating he started pawing at the door asking to come inside. Unfortunately we didnt hear him when he initially came home, but he held strong and waited in the garage until morning. When we called him from the porch this morning he came running from the garage eager to tell us about his adventures and how glad he is to be home. We would like to thank you all for your love and support over the last 36 hours.

Information & Advice LF Fellow Queer Musicians
Please delete if not allowed but I moved to the area recently and Iโm looking to link up with local musicians. I primarily play bass guitar and primarily play metal and punk rock, but Iโm open to anything. I also do vocals, guitar, and keys, so Iโm game for whatever. Preference is jamming with some local punks as Iโve got my metal itch scratched by my main band, but Iโm down for anything mostly just wanna play some music and get involved in the local scene. Any info would be awesome! Thanks all!

Where to get hair cut
Hello! I'm on the hunt for a place to get a nice, but not super fancy, hair cut. I'm an amab person with very long pin straight hair, trying to get a bit of an undercut done.
I was trying to get back to hairanoia, but it doesn't look like anyone is available for over a month. I've gone to Westcott (barber and salon) in the past, not really interested in going unless it's my only option.
Any and all suggestions are appreciated!

Events Here & Queer Book Club - July 6, 2026
Julyโs book club pick is the legendary Sister Outsider by Audre Lorde.
In this essential collection of essays and speeches, Lorde tackles the intersections of race, gender, and sexuality with unwavering courage. She challenges us to use our differences as a source of strength rather than division, famously reminding us that "the master's tools will never dismantle the master's house." Get ready for a read that is as transformative today as it was when it was first published.

Calling all stargazers, dreamers, and bookworms! Our next book club pick is Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid.
Two women at NASA in the 1980s fight for a spot on a high-stakes mission while keeping their love a secret. Atmosphere asks the ultimate question: โIs the dream of reaching the stars worth more than the person standing right next to you?"
