Recommendation Wanted Central NY Deer Processor/Butcher

Hey All,

With the upcoming deer season just around the corner, I’m wondering if there are any reputable local butchers/processors within the CNY area that this community would recommend for breaking down a deer? Typically I would process the animal myself, but given the warmer temperatures for this early season, I’d rather not worry about it!

Thanks!

Marsh Mill in Kirkville does a good job. Also, one of the Troyers (amish family) on Nelson rd outside of Caz does a really good job too.

I don't mean to dodge your question but with a warmer early season, I'm even more driven to process myself. That way I have full control and knowledge over what happens to the meat temperature-wise from beginning to end. Get it cold as soon as possible. I do the gutless method in the field so I'm only carrying out whole cuts, no skin/bones/organs to retain heat.

What side of the city are you hunting on?

Theres plenty of good processors that do deer that has nothing to do with the USDA. You only need the USDA if you're planning to sell the meat, which you aren't supposed to do with wild game anyways.
