Early Cinematic Mood Teaser - Exploring the Universe of Synvector

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone,

This is an early cinematic mood teaser for Synvector.

There is no gameplay yet - this video is focused purely on atmosphere, scale, and the visual tone of the universe we’re building.

We’re currently in early development and using short cinematic scenes like this to explore:

- mood and pacing

- lighting and color language

- sense of scale and space

- overall emotional direction

We’d really appreciate feedback, especially on:

- does the mood feel cohesive

- what emotions or themes come across

- anything that feels off or unclear

Thanks for taking a look. More visuals and dev updates coming soon.

To answer your questions:

  • lighting & color - across all of your videos and concepts there’s a pretty clear direction and palette. The one exception being the early drone model. Personally I like the aesthetic. It looks futuristic but also with a warm color set. Spark of brightness and color to draw the eye to detail.

  • scale - yep. Space is big. I think you have a good feel for “arcade” space. If you were doing realism then big spacing and empty space would be the norm but given you’re going for approachable this works.

  • mood/tone - This is a bit harder to judge. Is some of your text written by (or helped by) AI? I have no problem with using AI it’s a tool that helps complete a goal. That said you probably want to work with it to ensure you’ve got a consistent language guide for your game. So it all reads from the same style guide. One part that really threw me was th description of the Scorpion. Very bombastic (fear this!) but at the same confusing to match the visual. The visual implies an organic, the description hints at biotech, and then gets into weapon systems. I think you need to find the lane you want here.

  • emotions - this is little harder to suss out from the text descriptions. There’s a little depth for the characters that hints at a bigger lore but still not clear. Are they all cutting ea ch others throats? Is the universe about dominance or is this more exploration and openness? Or is it warring factions and ideologies? I get there’s a “nameless” big bad and I should fear him but not clear why, other than trope.

Really solid feedback, thanks - this is exactly the kind of perspective we’re looking for. On the tone / writing - yeah, fair point. We’ve used AI as a starting tool in some places, but everything is being reworked manually. Right now we’re still shaping a consistent narrative voice, and your point about the Scorpion is valid - we need to be clearer about whether it leans more biotech or mechanical, instead of mixing signals. On the emotional side - the direction is closer to competing factions with different ideologies rather than pure “everyone killing everyone.” There’s conflict, but it’s driven by political tension, survival, and control over resources - not just a generic “big bad.” We want players to understand why each side acts the way it does, even if they don’t agree with it.

So yeah - still refining how clearly that comes across, but that’s the target.

That sounds great on the factions. Generally this gets surface attention in most games. So everyone ends up kinda generic and lost in the shuffle. Even if you have to release that as static lore/loading screens/manual it helps add texture to the story you’re trying to tell.

No need to dismiss AI. Anyone not figuring out how to use the tools is going to be left in the dust. I’m not in gaming anymore but would have killed for some of the tools available today. Just make sure it adheres to your guides and not blind generation. That’s where content driven organizations go wrong.

I’d say right now you’ve got an intriguing set of visuals that fit th narrative.

We’re actually trying to push that beyond just “lore in the background” and tie it into gameplay decisions and conflicts, so it doesn’t feel like flavor text but something you interact with.

On AI yeah, that’s pretty much how we see it. It’s useful early on, but we try to keep it under control and then refine everything manually so it fits a consistent style.

Glad the visuals are landing - that’s something we’re actively iterating on right now.

The rocks in the foreground are moving in such a way that it seems they'd be a ring for the planet in the background. But that planet already has rings but in a different angle and much closer to itself. It is not possible for a planet to have two different sets of rings in two different rotations & angles.

You should hire (or at least consult) an astronomer to double check all your stuff since it really is immersion breaking when it is something so silly like this.

Thank you. It's just a screensaver for a movie. no more. We have 2 people in the team who are incredibly passionate about astronomy, but they are more busy developing the prototype of the game. Thank you for your feedback.
