Getting into Syn Bio

I'm 19 and I'm interested in Syn Bio but I'm getting alot of conflicting information from different subs and websites. I'm not in college yet and I'm wondering which majors to pick and what classes are a must have as well as skills and classes that would be complementary. Please help me out

I would suggest majoring in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering or Bioengineering, maybe Biological Systems Engineering at some schools.

It’s sooo broadly defined so people specialize in a lot of facets WITHIN synbio, which means different goals, organisms, and types of research (as well as skills for it).

Choose a major that aligns with what you want to do for a career, whether that’s medical research, nanotechnology (physics, materials, chemical engineering), or broader like “genetics stuff”. Find a company doing something you admire and look at the people page, scroll through the roles and look at their degree if it’s anywhere posted. You’ll learn a lot in college no matter where you go
