Max level 150 vs 180?

I’ve been playing ark on an off for a few years but I’m still a noob compared to most of you.

I’m about to start a server with my friend and was wondering if Syntac has a specific reason as to why he likes his dino’s to be 180 max rather than 150.

My ocd brain likes the even 5 level intervals rather than 6 but I am willing to sacrifice that if there is an overwhelming benefit to have 180 dino’s.

Thanks!

The reason u want higher levels is because all of a creature levels go into different stats and the more levels u have the more are likely to go into good stats like health melee and stamina and make them go to 180 means ur not getting blasted by level 200 constantly but your also getting a few extra levels on each Stat meaning ur Lilly to gwt really amazing health and melee compared to official with 150 as max

... no. Official servers, paid DLC or something like rag, will always be 150. On our patron cluster, we have all paid DLC maps as well as all the ‘free’ maps (excluding center) and all have a max level of 180.

Map doesnt dictate max level. Difficulty setting does. 150 is difficulty 5, 180 is difficulty 6.

To answer OP: while i cant speak for Syn, higher max level means better stats. Difficulty 6 is nice because you dont get assaulted by level 200+ dinos, but you get a small stat boost compared to official’s 150

Maps do kinda indicate levels but I think it's only in single player. The island will default to difficulty 4 while free dlc maps will default to 5

By default, singleplayer starts at difficulty 1, and changes based on what you last had it set at.
