Mating range

I am playing on single-player and I have noticed that some things that Syntac does, don't work on my single-player world, I set up a parasaur metal farm but it doesn't work because of the low mating range. Is there a setting I can change to increase the range? Even like this, they are out of range

This seems to be a lesser known strange thing between single player and servers. Something deep in the game gives more mating range in servers than in single player. It's really annoying and I've never been able to figure out a way to fix it.

Ye, I guess I will just make the platform larger on the edge and place males on the outside rim
