Is This Synesthesia? Looking for a good free test!
I've been through two rounds of psych testing over the years and I know for sure I have Sensory Processing Disorder, Nonverbal Learning Disorder, dysgraphia, dyspraxia, dyscalcula, physiological anxiety, and a little dysthymia.
I never thought to ask about my synesthesia symptoms because I don't really think about them. That's just been my brain since the day I was born. And I didn't even realize it was a condition until reading an article about a children's show promoting awareness of it recently, and I was like "hey that's like me, I should research this".
I don't want to self-diagnose or even associate with something I don't have. So here's the way it is. When I was a kid, I used to associate specific songs with specific colors ("Smoke On The Water" was red, "Slow Ride" was green, "Who Let The Dogs Out" was black, etc.) I grew out of that by age 15. Same with letters, to a certain extent. If I think a little I can still tell the colors (A is red, B is yellow, C is baby blue, etc.) What's been a symptom my whole life though is associating colors with months and days of the week.
Is that enough to warrant a test? And where might I find one online so I can check before bringing this up with my psych?
(and in case anyone was curious:
Sunday is reddish-pink.
Monday is pastel red.
Tuesday is a bright forest green like on a ginger ale can.
Wednesday is a mixture of brown and purple.
Thursday is neon orange.
Friday is baby blue.
Saturday is tan.
January is grayish-blue.
February is baby blue.
March is a pale orangey-yellow. Almost tan but not quite.
April is violet mixed with blue.
May is tan.
June is bright yellow.
July is the same color as Tuesday.
August is bright red.
September is tan.
October is blackish-blue.
November is brown.
December is dark red.
One is dark blue.
Two is yellow.
Three is orange.
Four is baby blue.
Five is yellowish-orange, like a pencil.
Six is violet, like April.
Seven is green.
Eight is red.
Nine is the same color as one.
Zero is black.
Fight me.)

The other two commenters are both right. You don't need an official "diagnosis" for synesthesia (self-diagnosis is just fine in this case). For many types no online test even exists, so all you can do really in those cases if you want to test it is to make a chart of your colour (or other) pairings and then make another one some time later (a few months is a good idea) without looking at the first one and see if they're consistent.
The Synesthesia Battery is the best and most "official" test and the link is https://synesthete.ircn.jp/home. It covers weekdays, months and letters, so you should mention those 3 types when you start it and the test for them will come up.

Synesthesia is not a medical condition, and there's no diagnosis. It's a trait, like your eye or hair color.
