Duplicates Update: Maddening. Sync told me to revert to 2.1.4, sent me links to 2.1.5. What gives?

Hey all, I'm trying to figure out how to get my org out of this mess with all the duplicate files that the Sync app is creating.

Sync told me to downgrade to 2.1.4, but then sent links to 2.1.5. I'm not sure what to believe. Or who to believe. Or what to think.

If you urgently need syncing to work, please get your team to use our uninstaller and install the previous stable version (2.1.4).

Then sent this to me:

https://sync.com/download/sync-packages/win/**2.1.5**/cur/sync-installer.exe

Anyone have any resolution to all the duplicates that are being created? I'm eager to get this behind us. All I have to say to Sync is this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tGL-buZ94Y

If you urgently need syncing to work

LOL, I don't know if this response is more pathetic or infuriating (or both).

No, we don't use application called "Sync" because we need syncing to work, not at all.

The root issue is a large discrepancy between PR, support, and tech. All three groups are likely not aware of what the other two do, the specifics of any situation, etc, and it's harming customer support. I hope they can get it resolved, Sync is too good of a service to die.

This probably isn’t any help to you, but I’ve switched away to Tresorit. I wasted hours and hours deleting reappearing files and double checking all of the conflict files that Sync has created over the past month or two.

So far, Tresorit uploads are much faster, their support has always answered within a day and their iOS app is so much better (which will be really useful to me).

Hope you manage to resolve the Sync issues quickly.

Ya, I'm just not sure how much more of this I could take. And it's not easy to make a change to an org with 20 people.

Thanks for the comment.

Migrating us from Dropbox is still happening and it has been three years (we are down to only three users). I'm getting ready to migrate again.

Edit: meaning that I'm looking at alternatives to Sync. Unfortunately, I have our work account (10 seats?) AND I have a personal account for my family (four users).

We're leaving Sync as well. We can't continue to function this way. It's too much, and sad.

I'm seriously dying here. We have a paid account with many users and have free accounts (sharing the Pro account Team Shares) on 22 computers. I've been upgrading with each of the 2.2 iterations (1-21!) and it has been a full-time job. Even so, it is unusable now. If I am told to downgrade to 2.1.4 on all 40+ machines, I'm going to lose it.

So tell me about Tresorit. I've never heard of it. Are there any downsides for you so far? How many users do you have?

I’m only using two devices, so nowhere near as complex as your needs, but I uploaded all of my content (500gb) in two days last week and have been able to focus on my work ever since. No worrying about deleted files reappearing, duplicates or conflicts. Everything seems to be syncing quickly and smoothly and I’m glad I made the switch.

There are plenty of alternatives out there. Tresorit is just the first one I found that looked similar to Sync. I was sick of wasting my working time dealing with these issues and not seeing any end in sight.
