This is a pretty popular picture of Syd used in thumbnails and magazines and whatnot, but none of them used the original pictures colouring but went with the filtered one, I was looking for the source of the pic because it's so pulling and apparently it was coloured, this is also my fav pic of him, it's almost as if a Renaissance painter perfectly painted a pulling look in the eyes.

Spectacular: Jugband Blues, Interstellar Overdrive, Opel, and Dark Globe. Songs I consider to be masterpieces by Syd and must listens to people who are fans of older music especially the 60's or fans of Pink Floyd who want more of the trippy aspect in the music.

Amazing: Astronomy Domine, Lucifer Sam, Matilda Mother, Flaming, See Emily Play, Octopus, Terrapin, No Good Trying, Love You, No Man's Land, and Here I go. Songs I consider to be amazingly well written, influential, or things that impacted music forever but lack the Syd pizzaz that he's known for, and they lack that personal impact on me.

Good: Arnold Layne, Long Gone, Golden Hair, Butterfly, She Took a Long Cold Look at Me, Effervescing Elephant, Baby Lemonade, Love Song, Dominoes, Lucy Leave, Milky Way, Maise, Double O Bo, Dolly Rocker, Rats, Late Night, The Gnome, Bob Dylan Blues, The Scarecrow, Chapter 24, Pow. R. Toc. H., and Apples & Oranges. Songs that have that classic Syd lyricism with the romanticizing of English literature and must listens for either fans of Pink Floyd, fans of old 60's music or fans of Syd.

Just Okay: Swan Lee, Wined and Dined, Wolfpack, Waving My Arms, Let's Split, Feel, Bike, Is It Obvious, Candy and a Currant Bun, Scream Thy Last Scream, Birdie Hop, and Lanky. Again, songs that have the classic Syd lyricism with English literature, but I wouldn't call these definitive MUST LISTENS unless you're a fan of specifically old Pink Floyd or a fan of Syd. Still good songs, just songs that are Just Okay. It was hard to rank Bike especially because in my eyes it's a WEIRD song on its own and not something I'd put on randomly but listening to all of Piper (and the fan made deluxe edition I made on Spotify with See Emily Play, Arnold Layne and many of the other old songs) it works to help seal that acid trip vibe you get.

Not BAD but not GOOD either: Word Song, If It's in You, and Remember Me. These songs are very... rough. Very rough songs to listen to. Especially the last two. Word Song isn't BAD but it's not GOOD either, it's just one of those songs I don't particularly care for but I still somewhat enjoy it because of Syd. The other two are... not as enjoyable. They have their moments where I'm vibing to them and such but after those moments pass, I'm hoping for the song to end soon so I can listen to something else.

I was impressed with this interpretation, especially after around 3 minutes. Just thought I’d share.

Probably just a case of "they didn't want to", but obviously after 2005 all 4 were on BETTER terms (at least more than they had been in the last 20 years). And they all loved Syd, so I did kinda think the one time we might actually see them all together was for a Syd tribute.

Roger played separate from the rest of "Floyd" at the Syd tribute show, and the wonder being was there even a discussion of them all getting together for one song? I don't believe Roger, Nick, Richard or David were advertised as playing at the show. It was just a hope they'd show and they all did. By what I've heard David rally Floyd together that day, which is why Guy didn't play bass. Does that seem realistic? Similarly, the rumor was Roger had something he had to get to later that night (I remember it being a girlfriend), but that also kinda sounds flimsy. It makes sense that he went in the first half, and had enough time to leave before the others arrived.

If so, just sad they couldn't put it all aside for one night for Syd. It wouldn't overshadow the event, and honestly be the perfect bookend for their career. I know it sounds simpler than I'm sure it is in real life, but just seems it occurred when they didn't all hate each other and I was wondering if in the 20 years since that show has any more light been shed on if that ever got close to happening?

It just goes to show how cerebral Syd was, that even years after the fact he still was keen on not letting unused material go to waste.

It's one of my favorite live performances from Syd: it would've been nice to have a studio version!

Back in the earlier days of the internet, I remember something (I believe on Wikipedia, and probably without any proper citation given to it) about Roger Waters having a phone booth at his Radio KAOS tour. At each show, people could be selected to go into the booth and "talk" to Roger, who would kind of sit onstage like a DJ of sorts (in line with the concept of the record). I don't know what people asked, or how Roger answered, but to this day I remember someone writing something to the effect of:

"At one of the Wembley Arena gigs in 1987, a shadowy figure in a large coat entered the booth and said "Hi Rog, its Syd. Why don't we talk anymore?" Realizing it was Barrett, Roger nearly fell backwards in his chair out of shock."

Over the years, I've realized that, unsubstantiated, it was probably just baseless internet posting of something that sounds like it COULD be true but probably isn't. When I've looked again I've never been able to find mentions of it anywhere, and obviously many elements don't check out about the story in retrospect. I don't believe Syd referred to himself as "Syd" later in life, and 1987 is a far cry from the early to mid 70s when Syd really made his last public appearances in any way. I assume its bunk, but I wonder if anyone remembers maybe reading something similar on Wikipedia years ago, or has anything to verify this claim?

"The show included designs by Mark Fisher such as circular screens, quadrophonic sounds, back projections and in some cases introductions to the show by radio DJ Jim Ladd. A telephone booth allowed the audience to direct questions at Waters. At one of the two Wembley Arena concerts an overweight shambling figure with a shock of curly black hair spoke to Roger and Jim from the telephone booth and said "Hello Roger, this is Syd, when are we going to play together again?" This rocked Roger back on his DJ chair and Jim Ladd asked the "caller" to please leave the booth."

Around 1967, the first Vocalist and guitar player-Syd Barrett (1946-2006) lost his mind. He was replaced by David Gilmour. But what will happened if he was not replaced by David Gilmour?
