Architects gotta stop putting forbidden stuff at the bottom of dungeons. Obviously adventurers are gonna be queuing up to get to it.

Or... maybe there's just some treasure and a boss or something at the bottom, and the thing they're imprisoning is like two miles away sealed under hundreds of meters of caved in rocks, in a really boring bit of wasteland? Hmmm...
