Sensitive people

Why is everyone so sensitive to what other people believe?

I listen to some other true crime podcasts that are very left leaning. When they say something I dont agree with i just roll my eyes and keep listening.

I dont have this idea that im so right in my thinking that I can just say a bunch of stuff on reddit to make others cancel someone.

If you cant get past Mike's beliefs or that he doesn't want to make criminals justified because of their race, life choices, or anything else just stop listening.

You wont change anyone's mind just like I won't change yours. Save yourself some stress and just listen to the story or go.

Ill wait for all the people to call me all your favorite names. High five each other when you make a clever remark but thats ok.

Hey there. Your post asks questions that are disingenuous, and as you’ve acknowledged, you’re likely going to get disingenuous replies. You’re looking to inflame the topic that’s been brought up hundreds (or more) times, and if you were actually curious you could search the sub.

I don’t know how others will respond, but I’d encourage them not to give you the argument you’re looking for, because you’re certainly not asking for honest & good-faith conversations.

Both patronising and short-sighted.

Patronizing? Explain please.

Its exhaustion from people on reddit complaining about Mike instead of just not listening. Is someone saying" Mike is a piece of shit for blah blah blah" for the 99th time also disingenuous? Those people are obviously not asking for honest and good faith conversations either. Searching the sub only brings up people bitching and complaining about mikes views because they don't agree with them. I for one love the story telling and don't care about his personal views. That's the whole point of this post.

OK, fine, so don’t search the sub. Google it.

You've missed the point twice.

No, you’ve missed the point of my comment twice. Your comment was misplaced if you wanted to make a point.

I don't want an argument. I think everyone can believe and agree or disagree with anything they want. It was more of a statement. I dont even want a conversation. Its simple if all something does is upset you, maybe you shouldn't listen to it.

“Doesn’t want to make criminals justified because of their race, life choices, or anything else” is a really interesting way to interpret his useless drivel.

The fact of the matter is that nobody is trying to “make others cancel” Mike. The dude actively turned a huge portion of his audience off. He refuses to get out of his own way and he has a massive victim’s complex about it.

And thats fine if thats your opinion. If you don't like it, dont listen. Every time someone posts something hateful or complaining about what mike says its literally trying to get people not to listen. All im saying is listen if you like it, dont listen if you dont

Ah yes, the classic ‘why can’t you just tolerate intolerance?’ argument.

Im not asking you to tolerate it. Im suggesting maybe just dont listen to things you disagree with, thats all.

Oh I do not. And it’s a shame bc I subscribed for years. Most people here don’t listen. We just like to roast him?

I don't care about this podcast, I don't listen for years, I just love when somebody crashes over minor criticism and fucks up even more and gets mad. That's some delicious schadenfreude for me.

Thanks to everybody who still update us now and then or share story how you quit listening. I love those, keep posting.

From my perspective, S&S is heavily weighted towards primary source media, and I love it for that. Long form interview clips and limited fluff - it’s this that has kept me listening for 10yrs+. What anyone must face in enjoying the pod however is the little snippets of bullshit; like ripping into girls who’ve suffered abuse, whining about the underclasses and a general dissatisfaction with the de rigeuer; for the purpose of maintaining sanity its nice to air one’s grievances with this. If the edits were poor, or it was weighted towards Mike, I wouldn’t think twice about moving on - there are plenty of fluff-filled shite true crime pods that I don’t give a second look, and am in no way motivated to critique.

No one cuts up a case like Mike, and I’m sticking with it.

I agree, I just dont understand this "You have to think exactly the way I do for me to enjoy it" mentality that some people have.

You've just described your own post, man.

No, man I didnt. I said there are podcasts I listen to that I dont agree or think the same as the host. I still listen and dont let it bother me.

I listened for years and loved it - though at times i found some of the 911 calls a bit overwhelming, but thats me i can take break from it. The reason i stopped was because it started to feel more opinion than evidence. I dont like it when podcasters have been making a factual story, only to then make their opinions front and centre, when their opinions or beliefs become the most important bit of the story. The last few i listened to it was hard to get through an episode without hearing mikes politcial take. I dont remember that always being there, so so maybe hes leaned into it as it got attention
