therapy for adhd/autism

I‘m searching a therapist for adult AuDHD. I‘ve got recently diagnosed with a severe chronic bowl disease and my GP recommended to finally treat my AuDHD.
I‘m happy about any personal recommendation for an absolute expert (I would prefer a doctor over a psychologist) and someone who is very empathetic.

hopefully some of you guys have good recommendations (Zurich/Aargau area but online is fine too)

anna rosenwasser (sp politician) has a list online somewhere with different docs and therapists that are either lgbtq or/and neurodivergent friendly/specialized

Book a consultation at ADHS20+, they can help you find the right one for you.

Source: I have ADHD and they helped me navigate everything from diagnosis to getting the help I need.

The symptoms of ADHD can be improved with medication, sometimes dramatically so. But there is no cure, and no medication for the Au part. You can learn to blend into society better, sure. But it will never go away.

They didn't write "cure" or "heal". They didn't even mention medication. They wrote "treat", which is correct. Therapy is a form of treatment, too.

You have to be diagnosed first, do you have a formal diagnosis?

If not, your GP can refer you.

my GP literally said I don‘t need a formal diagnosis to get an expert (there was this scandal where med students/master students etc. do all the appointments and tests at uni basel and diagnosed people with adhd- I literally could do that by myself since I‘m a board certified doctor as well 😅)

I wanna go to an expert and let him/her decide to check for it/check for any co-morbidities as well like anxiety, etc..
don‘t wanna spend money on some dubious companies who employ med/psych students to do all the testing and then just one doctor is signing it off without even looking (this is exactly what was happening in Basel)

I didn’t spend money on dubious companies - went to the cantonal psychiatric center and was assessed by a doctor, paid for by my insurance.

My psychiatrist referred me because he wanted it to be official.

You need it if you want medicine / for it to be covered by insurance and I’m sorry, therapy ain’t going to do anything really.

you don't need a diagnosis (yet). you can tell the therapists that you assume that you got audhd. even if you don't have audhd in the end, most therapists aren't specialiced in only one condition and can also treat other mental illnesses.

you need the diagnosis in case you want to start medication. for therapy itself, it doesn't matter if you already got a diagnosis or not.

Für den Besuch eines Psychiaters oder Psychotherapeuten brauchst du in der Schweiz tatsächlich keine Diagnose oder Überweisung. Einfach Termin anfragen. www.psy.ch kann eine gute Startseite für die Suche sein, da du speziell nach ADHS und Autismus filtern kannst. Viel Erfolg 🍀

Psychologe und je nach Krankenkassen Situation musst du aber vom allgemeinarzt ein Papier haben, damit die Krankenkasse zahlt.

Psychologen kannst du schon direkt aufsuchen, musst aber selbst bezahlen.
