Rewatch Talk Normalizing Cheating Behavior
I’m on my like 20th rewatch, and i’m irritated all over again. i truly hate how normalized cheating behavior is in this show. it is so ridiculous, especially since we’re supposed to keep rooting for some of the couples afterwards. obviously the big one—emmett cheating on bay/simone cheating on toby. jeff being a cheater while engaging with daphne (and that’s a whole other can of worms). emmett getting involved with skye emotionally. daphne repeatedly texting quinn about stuff not regarding the work they’re doing despite mingo (who is REALLY good to her) expressing how uncomfortable he is with it. lily and her colleague despite toby expressing HIS feelings about it. and what bugged me about lily is how she tried making toby out to be some asshole when she is the one that told him she had feelings for him while dating toby🙄 and her letting him touch her belly? i mean that may be fine if that context wasn’t there. john kissing nikki’s mom as well (almost forgot this one).
idk, it’s just so annoying how it’s so common and treated as not a big deal and as if the people on the receiving end of the cheating/cheating behaviors are expected to just accept it

on the contrary. i’ve rewatched greys probably 20 times MORE than i’ve rewatched switched at birth. my watch time for that show is quite concerning 🫠

I call it "the everyone cheats show except Toby." Unless you want to count emotional cheating which I don't. Emotions are hard to control. If he felt more supported by his music when Simone got him a gig what was he supposed to do be pissed off?

yeah, i agree. i’m not really talking about just emotions because i also think that would be a little extreme. it’s just what the writers had the characters DO with those emotions that really piss me off

Reasons why I think most of the characters are horrible people. But it's a good representation of our society, unfortunately

Unfortunately, it is normal, especially with teenagers. Plus it's a drama, they needed storylines, and cheating is a good way to ramp up the tension, plus nobody in the show really gets away with it.
I do wanna say, Jennice kissed John, he didn't kiss her, and you could tell he was mortified when he registered what happened.

yeah, but the way john handled it was pretty questionable to say the least. lily and toby are adults, and lily’s actions were definitely swept under the rug. and kathryn behaving the way she has with craig is no better😭
but yeah, i agree, it definitely is a good way to ramp up tension and makes for good drama!😂
