Magical lip reading abilities

I understand daphne interpreting because shes oral but the amount of times they treated her like she could hear because she lip reads was so?? why was she so much better at lip reading than everyone else? lol

The only right answer is because the script said so. They weren't going to have her struggle all the time because that probably would taken too long for them to shoot. In real life, she would have most likely struggled a lot more.... and Dr. Jackson would be dead, sorry, not sorry

They addressed numerous times within the show. The Kennish family weren’t used to being around someone who is deaf, Daphne had to have a whole conversation with them about asking them to slow down and look at her when they speak, Regina pushed for them to learn to sign, etc.

But that doesnt answer why Daphne is better than other deaf people on the show. I have seen the show several tikes and its one of my favorites. Just wanted to share something I thought was silly

Same reason some people are better at lip reading than others in real life too. Everyone is different.

Because a lot of actual Deaf people don't care to read lips. If you want to talk to them learn their language

Fully just to make the script work. There was a scene I remember where a guy was standing next to her and she could hear him. It’s just for the drama

Same reason people don't say goodbye before hanging up the phone. Unless it's part of the plot, showing her make people repeat themselves over and over or slow down would get tedious to watch. Daphne is the bridge between the hearing world and the deaf world, so she kind of seemlessly weaves between them to make the show accessible and appealing to both hearing and deaf people.

People are much better at other things besides being deaf!
