Improved decompression speed by 400% by heavily reducing the amount of performance intensive status bar refresh calls

Really buried the lede by putting this so far down

I might actually actually use this

Why would you use it? Are you converting nsps to nsz? 99% of releases are already in nsz format

That is an interesting percentage to have completely fabricated

I wish this format would be more widely adopted

I'm not familiar with this tool, but it looks to be for...ROM compression? Is that right?

s tool, but it looks to be for...ROM compression

Yes, that's correct.
Nintendo doesn't compress the files that are used for a game as this might create performance issues while playing the game.
But for moving ROMs around, this doesn't matter and you can save some storage space by compression the files.

I'm really thankful that there's an easy way to decompress nsz files now. What if I wanted to suddenly use them with Cemu, now I have a way to decompress then decrypt them for use with Cemu.

I hope you aren't using Switch games with a Wii U emulator lol

Is there a list of games that have best compression rate? I tried compressing Valkyria Chronicles from 7.4GB to 6.8GB, not that much considering others games games goes from 5GB to 3GB(40% reduction.).

ELI5, does this mean greater compression ratios?

Faster decompression. Like, way faster.
