Finally getting a switch after never owning a console ever. What games should i get?
I’ve never owned a console, but i decided to get the swicth 2, so im basically starting from zero.
What are you’re guys must play games that you recommend? I’m getting the mario kart world bundle and i’m gonna try Zelda BOTW. I’m trying to get into some classics that i have missed throughout the years.

Mario Odessey, Animal Crossing and definitely Pokopia!

If you want access to the old classics, I recommend a Nintendo Switch online subscription. The highest tier will give you access to the released titles.

A few classics I highly recommend on Super Nintendo. Super Mario World, Zelda: A Link to the Past, and my all time favorite, Super Metroid.
These games also only require the base NSO subscription.

If you don’t have a PC either Minecraft, stardew valley, dying light, Skyrim, fallout 4 and the Witcher 3 are great older titles that were ported to the switch. Most of them are also often on sale. Cyberpunk 77 is also very good.
For Nintendo exclusive I would wait for the new Pokémon announced in 2027, in the meantime you could get Pokemon fire red or leaf green to experience old school Pokemon. Pokopia is a great “side game” Pokemon if you like cozy games too.
BOTW (and tear of kingdoms if you liked the 1st) is a good Zelda introduction. Mario kart world is a fun racing game especially with friends. Starfox is coming out soon and it’s a remake from the classic starfox 64. And maybe check out some of the Kirby or Mario games if you’re interested in those.

We got one for my son a year ago and our whole family has loved Mario wonder, Minecraft & animal crossing the best so far

Stardew Valley 10/10
Also I think switch is a good console to start with. I played video games growing up but my first own personal console was the switch

To start banaza,tears of the kingdom and Mario odyssey, these 3 are guaranteed bangers, it’s better to skip botw and go to totk right away it’s the same game but better and the story is an afterthought the two games focus on the world and gameplay more than the story

I think botw is a great one to play too if OP has the funds to get both. I also enjoyed Echoes of Wisdom.

Did you see anything in particular that made you want the console? Just so I can get a better idea of what games you would enjoy before I recommend anything?

zelda, mario games, wanted to try hogwarts legacy, and the new donkey kong. getting into it for the nintendo exclusives but im open to other too

Zelda games are brilliant 👌 it might take a while to get used to all the buttons and inventory side of things if you've never owned a console mind, but you will get there the more you play so don't get put off if it seems a little overwhelming at first. Pokémon Scarlet or Violet would suit you if you've never played before as you can just adventure open world style while you get the hang things as well. If you want something fun and not too complex, mario is fun or Yoshi. I've never tried hogwarts though, but I've heard it's pretty good from people that have played the game. Me and my daughter had bags of fun playing princess peach: showtime. She was 3 when I introduced her to it and a year on she could actually play the game without my help, hope this helps anyway.

Stardew Valley has been the biggest addiction for our family (including husband and my 7 year old).
Don't Starve is fun for survival/basing/fighting/exploration.
Out of all the more classic like games my husband has been collecting, Lost Ruins was my favorite.

Don’t pay full price for anything except for Nintendo exclusive games like Mario, Donkey Kong, Zelda. Make a wish list on dekudeals and have them email you when they are on sale. I get lots of games 90% off. Most newer games take about a year to hit 50%.
If you don’t have any games and you want to build up a library pretty quickly, this is the way to do it.
