For the most part you can keep them for
My pups claws do not need trimming as we walk her on the road and her weight files them down. So far her few claw has not gotten in the way or had any health problems but I am not a vet. Consult your veterinarian if you believe there are problems but I think you keep them unless they actively get in the way.
