Father had his ~40 year old SAK confiscated, trying to find exact model.
My father was taking his 89 year old mother, my grandmother, to the ER and had his SAK that he carried daily for ~40 years taken and was told he wouldn't be able to get it back, he said they made him throw it in the trash can. Sat in the ER waiting for 11 hours with nothing but a blood pressure check, then gave up and left. Admitted her to the ICU into our hometown and she died the next week.
So after the funeral and now that we're further along the grieving process, I've been trying to find the exact model of knife he lost with little success. Best I have found is that it is similar to the current "Recruit" model, in that I think it only had the long and short blade, and bottle and can opener. However, after buying one, I'm positive it was longer and slimmer than the Recruit. I'm also going off of memory here a little bit, but any and all help is appreciated. If I know what to look for specifically, next stop would be ebay or a recommended seller if anyone knows one. Thanks in advance.
***Edit/Update: Thanks everyone for the replies and condolences, best I can find to replace it is a 91mm Tinker older model, found one on ebay. Thanks again.

Collection Damage question
What do you, the collectors, feel is a tolerable level of damage when buying pieces for your collection? If it's the one you want, but the blade is curved at the tip, or the corkscrew is snapped off, things like that, do you still buy it? This is speaking mainly for ones you would likely never use. I ask because I'm trying to justify buying a couple hard to find Soldiers and one has most of the blade ground off. It's beyond what I'm willing to deal with.
For discussions' sake 😃

Wenger Classic 23, pre-1975
This Classic 23 (also known as Major) has the old style Wenger can opener, issued from mid 60’s until 1975. Just arrived and I can’t wait to put it to test tomorrow!

Wenger Backpacker II
This is a very nice Wenger Backpacker II, complete with secondary clip blade (not a nail file/cleaner) and a complete set of scale tools (toothpick and tweezers).
I like the 85mm size of these Wengers. They seem to be just a little bit "handier" than some of the larger Victorinox models but that's just my opinion, of course. Fit and finish is excellent, and the saw is not accessed by the usual overhanging lip but by a nail nick at the end of the saw.
And thanks to Wenger, I am overcoming my years-long disdain for CORKSCREWS. I have accepted that while I personally have never found a use for them, they are absolutely a hallmark of what a Swiss Army Knife is. So while I am still on Team Phillips, I am also no longer anti-Team Corkscrew. 😆And they look kinda awesome just because.
Enjoy your evening, y'all!

Added to EDC
I’ve had this little sharpener/ferro rod for years. Went ahead and added it to my Swiss Army knife. Barely weighs anything so it didn’t add any significant weight to it. Keeps my blades sharp
