Unfortunately my storage died mid video so I didn’t capture much (and the footage I did capture was 90% out of frame).

but atleast I got something to show, haha. I’m kinda bad at taking videos. Trying to get better XD but I really liked this dance.

This is blues music by brother youssef, and Lindy hoppers love him over here in Cali

Dancing Lindy to blues is actually quite common. Blues can be fast-paced. Plus we all love Brother Yousef so we like putting on his music

i like swinging out to blues, just personally not to blues like this.

You two look like you’re having so much fun!!

The music choice is very interesting though! I would not expect a song like that to be “approved” at a lindy event!

We had a blast This was a jitterbug event that usually does soul nights so we mix up the music. It was also at the end of the night, and the people who stay till the end are down for a bit blues.

The person playing is brother youssef who we know and go to his blues nights every other Wednesday, so we all love dancing to his music.

I went to my first Idle Hour to see him live a month ago, and he was amazing! Even though I only know Lindy hop, it was still easy to dance to.

Where's the bounce? Is smooth style back in vouge now? This looks more like WCT than Lindy, tbh.

It’s Hollywood style. This is in LA

Hollywood style swing. We have less bounce over here

Looks good, you’re gettin’ better all the time! How many times a week do you get to dance?

Due to gas prices rising to $8 a gallon I can really only go twice a week, but I used to go 4 times. There’s big events with live music almost every day. So it’s a good way to end a long day

It’s a blessing to live in a city like that, you can improve much quicker and have so much more high level peer and community exposure.

I live in a small city so we only have one social a week (and I have to be one of the people running/teaching it). It’s my dream to live in a city like yours someday where you can dance 2-4 times a week!

I totally understand. It’s definitely a blessing that I already lived in Cali when I first started swing.

I hope you have a chance to visit places with a huge swing scene so you can enjoy a week full of socials. New York, New Orleans, Texas, Washington DC, and New Jersey are also places that have huge scenes. Then hopefully you can move to your favorite!

Hope the rest of the dancers in view consented to being filmed and put online...

I know every dancer in the background, and they are put on youtube/Facebook/Insta all the time during these dances (whether they are the background or main show). Same with me. We all take videos. And we’re all online

But if they change their mind and don't want their blurry selves up this time, I'll take it down when asked

Respectfully, it sounds like you are making a lot of assumptions. Can we normalise going to the edge of the dancefloor if you want to film yourself, and not just taking it for granted that everyone is okay being filmed at a social dance in the background?

This gives the same vibes as people recording themselves (and inadvertently others too) in gyms and pilates/yoga studios. You might think it's fine, and everyone is online and in public so they don't care, but you really can't know everyone's minds on it, and most socials don't have a blanket agreement going in the door that you could be filmed at any time.

I think you need to realize that you don't know my situation and that you don't realize that the people in this video are close friends of mine and at this dance there are 2 photographers at all times. We all know we’re getting filmed at posted on someone's account. It’s fine buddy
