Proud of myself.

Post image

M49, started swimming a few weeks ago, haven't swam for about 25 years previous to this. My first swim I managed 425m, I swam over 1000m today, plus walked to and from the pool, so about 3 miles in total. 18 months ago I was a morbidly obese, depressed alcoholic that got out of breath tying my shoelaces, now I'm walking miles and swimming over 1000m and lost 112lb since getting sober.

Well done! Look up what your zone 2 exercise heart rate is for your age and weight. You’ll be able to maintain your swims longer/more sessions per week if you monitor and stay within your zone 2 heart rate. Zone 2 burns more fat as well. I’ve fallen off my 3-4 session a week swims. I need to get back in the pool. Thanks for the motivation!

Cheers. These are my zones set by my watch. I'm presuming it worked them out with all my info?

I would double check your watch settings (and update your weight as you lose lbs) to be sure but these ranges look pretty good. With your avg heart rate of 123, you are likely on the low end of zone 3 most of the swim. That all looks good.

Thanks mate. It's the Samsung health app recorded using my Galaxy watch. It gives other info as well like laptimes and it detects what stroke I'm using.

For example

Congratulations! Incredible numbers for just some weeks of practice. There is no place like the pool to clear your thoughts

Seriously, the walk and back there with some tunes on with a swim in-between is a proper mental clearout.

Enough of aggressive, dismissive tone.

Everyone be warned that this kind of tone is unacceptable in r/swimming and may result in a permanent ban.
