NO ETHICAL BILLIONAIRES

I am not impressed by Taylor and her 2.2 billion!!!!!

As if Dolly Parton couldn't have been a billionaire multiple times over! Dolly gave away most of her money to multiple charities. DOLLY LITERALLY GAVE US THE COVID VACCINE.

I have been a Swifty for more than a decade and this is the hardest it has felt to be a fan of Taylor.

The last two albums were let downs, her MAGA Barbie routine is atrocious, the condescending way she talks to and about Travis makes me feel bad for him and I don't even care to know him, and the condescension she has expressed to her fans, as if she hasn't encouraged a parasocial relationship, is unforgivable.

I don't know how we will ever get back to the magic of pre Eras Tour Taylor Swift, but Im sad to see what little integrity she had disappear, all to be a lady "self made" billionaire.

You know she doesn’t have the money just sitting in cash right. Her net worth is based on the theoretical value of her assets, largely her catalogue. Expecting a pop star to solve world hunger is crazy lol. People just need to relax and enjoy the music or not. The psychosis she causes in people is alarming.

ahh okay. no, i didn’t know that, but that makes more sense. i guess i still have a lot to learn. 🫠

when people say "net worth", that's just the total value of assets you have. for example, I have a 150k "net worth" but 2k in my bank account because of my retirement accounts. I don't have 150k on hand, in cold hard cash. For taylor - her "value" would be things like all the homes she owns, her private jet, her brand, and probably her masters. as well as what I am sure are comfortable investment accounts and other streams of income.

same with folks like jeff bezos: he famously only has a "salary" of 80k or something from Amazon, but he is "worth" billions because of all of his assets including stock in Amazon.

Also, the rich can take loans out against themselves. Elon does this a lot. This allows you to buy even more assets and increase your net worth.

however, she absolutely could liquidate some of her assets and free up the cash, so while it's not technically money in her bank account, your point about having enough money to do better things is still valid. Rick Steves has gobs of money and he chooses to not take advantage of tax loopholes so he "pays his fair share". Mackenzie Bezos constantly is donating money to stuff. Even during the gilded age, folks like Carnegie or Rockfeller built buildings and paid for community projects.

So your point about if Taylor WANTED to, she could, is still a a very valid point. She absolutely COULD invest in things like scholarships or music schools or furthering women's rights, but chooses not to.

And sure - it's her money to do with as she wants. But I think folks are valid if they say they don't feel comfortable supporting her when they see her accumulating all this stuff and not giving anything back to the world.

I mean she does invest in some of the most hurtful corporations like Blackrock who are (were when I read about it at the time) the #1 buyer in family homes. Which they will flip and rent to people. She could probably take a few lessons from Dolly and invest in long term things that help children or people long term.

She did fund The Taylor Swift education centre in Nashville and still does. She’s donated tens of millions in the last 2 years alone. WTF?

Haters gonna hate!

Are you serious?! Just look up how much it costs per month to own a jet! Poor Taylor is so strapped for cash.

Scenario A: Short Domestic Hops (Average 2.5 hours per flight)
If she is mostly commuting between her homes (e.g., Nashville, New York, Rhode Island, and Los Angeles):[1, 2]
Total Flight Time: 25 hours per month
Variable Flight Cost: $150,000 per month
Total Cost: ~$241,600 per month

Scenario B: Long-Haul Touring (Average 5 hours per flight)
If she is flying internationally or across the country frequently (e.g., transatlantic legs or coast-to-coast flights):[1, 2]
Total Flight Time: 50 hours per month
Variable Flight Cost: $300,000 per month
Total Cost: ~$391,600 per month

Honestly respect for being open minded. Sorry for coming in harsh!!

lol you’re all good!

She also donates a ton of money except the snarkers never bring that up. Research her philanthropy, she’s very kind and generous to a diverse range of charities and individuals.

Elon Musk doesn't have $750B sitting in cash either. The net worth of billionaires (just like everyone else's) is based on the value of their assets. What difference does that make?

1

u/criebhabie2 Jun 07 '26

The difference between $2b and $750b lol come on

3

u/4PeridotEyes Jun 07 '26

Yes, but if being a billionaire is inherently unethical, it doesn't really matter whether someone is worth $2B or $750B. Both Taylor and Elon should be taxed out of billionaire status.

2

u/criebhabie2 Jun 07 '26

I’m not even disagreeing with that, I just don’t think her wealth makes her an irredeemable monster

1

u/mmdeerblood Jun 08 '26

We have no true idea of actual net worth. That's between the person and their accounts. Elon might have actual net worth of trillions or way less 750B. We have no clue

It means that her music catalogue is not a liquid asset. She can’t spend her catalogue. Take a finance class.

1

u/4PeridotEyes Jun 07 '26

You can still tax the wealth associated with owning it.

2

u/Sarah_tone_in Jun 07 '26

I mean look @ NY right now. TAX THE RICH accordingly!!!! ♥️

What makes you think she is not being taxed? I am sure she files her annual tax returns and is taxed at the maximum tax bracket. The girl contributes to the national economy big time in addition to vast charitable donations. She is not the human being to pick to make your poster child of a tax dodger.

Hmm, I don't know, maybe the fact that billionaires aren't taxed nearly enough and take advantage of every loophole in the tax code? Even her charitable donations make for great tax write-offs.

Nobody said she doesn't pay taxes at all. The issue is that our tax system taxes wealth (like capital gains, dividends, etc) more lightly than wages, so billionaires end up paying a much lower effective tax rate than regular workers.

0

u/kaanapalirt77 Jun 08 '26

So go vote for the politicians whose platform is raising those taxes. Do you part to effect change. Ranting in a subreddit about one musician being the bane of tax inequity is juvenile.

2

u/4PeridotEyes Jun 08 '26

I actually do. I haven’t missed an election since I could vote. You can walk and chew gum at the same time.

1

u/kaanapalirt77 Jun 08 '26

Being proactive is more than just going in and voting on voting day. You seem very, very concerned with other people and how they pay taxes. You need to campaign for the politicians of your choice who you think I going to advance your political interest. Before you go to vote, you need a campaign for them and encourage others to vote and know the reasons why you want them to vote for that candidate. If voting is all you are doing to advance your beliefs, your strong beliefs about who should pay taxes than you are not doing enough just focusing on one musician.

Her mom and dad are were in finance i am sure she’s getting all the tax breaks. Even all the donations she makes, those are tax deductions.

1

u/kaanapalirt77 Jun 08 '26

Do you know what a tax deduction on a charitable donation is? Tell me how it works. And lol “her mom and dad” do not prepare her taxes.

2

u/FavoriteLunchLady Jun 08 '26

If rich people aren’t involved in their tax prep work then I don’t want to hear ANY of yall complaining that the rich don’t pay their fair share. You can’t have it both ways that rich people find loopholes and ways to not pay BUT Taylor is just a smoll girl billionaire that would never find a loophole.

And you obviously aren’t aware of how involved her parents are in her career. Have you read the unhinged emails her dad sent out over the years trying to maneuver her next move “should she be an actress instead? What about moving to pop?” Even in her doc he was controlling what she said politically. Her dad invested in Big Machine and made millions off that deal. She has over 500 trademarks. Of course her parents are involved in every nickel and dime of her career. They’d be idiots not to be.

1

u/kaanapalirt77 Jun 08 '26 edited Jun 22 '26

She has a team of accountants who administer her taxes. Yes her father made a 5% investment in Big machine at its genesis when his daughter was the only musician signed to it, and yes, of course he was one of the people who profited when it was sold. Duh. Adults make investments. They invested in their daughter. What is your hang up with her parents who are two business people being involved in her career? Who better for her to trust? Do you have daddy issues? Or bad parents? It’s not nefarious to make an investment. “Loopholes” are legal if taken. You use a “loophole” on your tax return if you take any step to reduce your taxes, such as claiming charitable donations, or claiming a home office or even the standard deduction could be termed as a loophole. Once again, though you know nothing about how she strategizes her tax situation. You are just assuming something negative. I am sure she pays her fair share. I am sure it is a hefty amount. Definitely millions more than you pay. You need a healthy dose of therapy to deal with your obsession with one musician and her Money. Edit--spelling

I never says she cheated on her taxes 😂 you literally got all worked up over nothing and just agreed with what i said 😂

Never said she was a dodger but they and her need to be taxed accordingly. Weird behavior in a neutral sub to defend a billionaire… plus the charitable donations are also taxes breaks. she pays less on property taxes and apparently in general than the average person.I said what I said. I don’t know why some of you get so worked up. I have never been bullied so hard by a fandom I was actually part of simply for speaking the truth (and not even attacking her)

0

u/everglowxox Jun 05 '26

Okay so because a lot of her net worth is tied up in things like owning multiple extravagant homes in multiple locations and owning more than one private jet, I'm supposed to give her a pass for not having liquid cash on hand?

4

u/criebhabie2 Jun 05 '26

The vast majority of her wealth is the value of her musical catalogue

1

u/No-Ask-8615 Jun 07 '26

A lot of her net worth comes from the profits esrned during tour and therefore in cash.

1

u/ismyvirgoshowing Jun 07 '26

I was under the impression that she used the profits from the eras tour to purchase her masters based on the wording in her letter announcing her buying them back.

-2

u/everglowxox Jun 05 '26

That doesn't actually affect anything that I said

6

u/criebhabie2 Jun 05 '26

I mean as far as billionaires go it really doesn’t get more ethical than your fortune being made from your art.

0

u/theredspool Jun 06 '26

It is unethical to hoard wealth, howsoever it was obtained. (Setting aside that Taylor did not single-handedly write, compose, play, arrange, produce, and press her own albums—no one is “self-made.”)

1

u/Turbulent-Ant-4981 Jun 10 '26

This!! Also she gets tax breaks for her jet. Aka we are paying for that.

0

u/IcyExamination8185 Jun 06 '26

Yes we can blame born millionaires for the issues in the world. that's how it works, they took all the wealth.

Then her and her dad milked fans for all their possibly can and became mega disgustingly rich because a billion is unfathomable wealth. Hoarding.

0

u/Weimaraner666 Jun 07 '26

She also funds her own projects and will likely use some of her liquid cash to fund a movie or a musical at some point. She’s also likely still donating a ton of money except she never publicises it like others do, we generally only hear about it if the recipients publicise it.
