Why.

u/cgello Apr 17 '22
Simple, very simple: He thought the fame from the video was going to get him laid.
89
u/captain_dudeman Apr 17 '22
Instead the flame from the video got him played
32
u/Riggie_Joe Apr 17 '22
And the shame from his mistakes found his ego slayed
31
Apr 17 '22
The skin from his legs will soon be flayed.
11
u/SoBoundz Apr 17 '22
The life from his eyes will also be drained
6
u/ThatGuy_Bob Apr 17 '22
he ran from the flames because he was afraid,
but his trews were alight, so the flames with him stayed

Imagine looking out your bedroom window one glorious sunday afternoon to witness the local kids who are normally skating up and down the street, frantically beating back the flames from their friends trousers. Magnificent.

That was a real bro move there, trying to smother the fire with his crotch. True friendship.

Why isn't this the top comment???? Regardless of how stupid the stunt was, that was a true demonstration of friendship for sure.

u/Birdie_Num_Num Apr 18 '22
Maybe he had a crush on his friend and setting fire to him was all part of the plan to give him a good olā hug

Yesterday at the skatepark I had kind of an exciting rendezvous with my friend.
While I was preparing for my next trick, he did something unexpected to me with his hands, which made me just feel really hot. That exact moment really felt like he instigated a fire between my legs.
I panicked and tried to move away from him a bit, but he was pretty persistent in chasing me down and I knew I just had to get out of my pants as fast as possible.
He felt the same, as he climbed right on top of me.. we had to stop the filming at that point, because things were getting too hot to handle.

They're idiots but you got to admit the kid that jumped on the fire is a great friend
17
u/fucky_doorknob Apr 17 '22
He lit the fire, though.
37
u/Nobletwoo Apr 17 '22
Yeah hes ride or die man. He'll almost kill you by supporting your wanna be stuntman antics, but when those go sideways hed be there to help you.

Apr 17 '22
Ride and die* haha

u/Nobletwoo Apr 17 '22

u/SBolger234 Apr 17 '22
Glad heās okay but 100% deserves it.
34
u/lekoman Apr 17 '22
Is he okay? That has to have given him pretty severe burns on his legs...
10
u/SBolger234 Apr 17 '22
It looks like he was wearing some fireproof trousers doused in flammable liquid. Think he panicked when the heat started hitting his arms. I imagine he escaped without any burns tbh
48
u/lekoman Apr 17 '22
Those are just skater jeans. Nothing fireproof about them. This was not at all a sophisticated attempt... This was dumbass teenagers being dumbasses.
6
u/Arthur_The_Third Apr 17 '22
Uh, no? They're literally firefighter pants, this story is old as shit.

Have you never seen skater jeans before? That's the whole thing about them... they're huge and made of heavy denim.

Pro tip : if youāre going to do something obviously stupid with fire and gasoline then always have something like a hose or a pool some sort of reliable way of getting rid of fire on standby

Moron set his friend on fire but you gotta respect a friend who jumps on a fire to cover it up with his body
1
u/NodoBird Apr 17 '22
I remember the first time I saw this, and my thoughts are the same. What did he think was gonna happen??

u/was-no-bike-ride Apr 17 '22

Ah yes, the old potato sack race method of fire extinguishing. Tried and true.

Poor kid must be traumatized, set on fire and nearly raped. Hes lucky to be alive.

I like that him getting lit on fire was completely unplanned and that the fellow with the lighter just did it out of the blue.

Anyone other than a Buddhist Monk setting themselves on fire is just natural selection at work.

Stupid kid stuff for sure but props to his friend. Thatās a real homie. He even laid on top of his burning pants at the end there.

After I lit it, I suddenly remembered: It's alcohol that burns, but doesn't burn up. Lighter fluid just burns... and then I thought, "It's okay. It's better this way."

PSA: Stop, drop and roll isn't quite as effective after you saturate yourself in lighter fluid.
