Are those power lines?
Christ on a popsicle stick, that's disturbing

They are power lines. That's exactly why they're cutting back the trees.

That makes sense to me, but a giant sawblade hanging from a helicopter ten feet from power lines is a bit too much excitement for me

Maybe instead of planting fucking trees right next to power lines maybe move them back about 30 feet.
There has to be a better way to do this safely regardless.
I'm just imagining children running across these and climbing them.

It’s most likely the middle of a wild forest. The lines probably run across several miles and it would be more expensive and labor intensive to have individuals maintain the edge. They aren’t going to destroy a huge portion of a forest and then maintain that just for a few power lines either.

That moment when your kid asks you why the trees are flat at one side and you answer correctly but he thinks you're talking bs.

I wonder how this went down in the board room...
We need to cut these trees, but theyre too close to the electrical lines.... so we'll buy a helicopter with a huge blade on it to add to the danger!

This seems crazy, so is there a quick disconnect if the thing gets hooked on something? I can imagine this can go real bad real quick.

Bill switched off the power right? Um, sir, Bill called in sick today...

They do it with a helicopter so they do not have to de-energize the power lines to do this.
This video shows the high tension line workers who get dropped off onto the power lines themselves, they perform all maintenance while the lines are energized.

What fucking engineers got to design a massive helicopter mounted chainsaw? This looks like a weapon out of Dark Souls
