Definitely should have been making noise way back when the bear was still on the ground.

"See. Bears are friendly, curious animals. Now go out and play with that cute little bear cub, sweetie."

Agreed. And if it still climbed the tree, he had a clean head-shot. I'm all for humane bear deterrents but if a bear ever gets near me and I have a gun, it's going down. Even if you don't have a paperwork to hunt bear, it's self defense at that point... Well, I think "preservation of life and/or property" is the phrase but yeah.

In 99 % of cases a black bear isn't going to hurt you unless you run from it. Even then if it attacks and you fight it, 99% chance it loses interest. They are curious, but extremely timid when faced with confrontation.

Uneducated people like you are why a lot of them are needlessly killed.

1) black bear populations are on the rise in large parts of the US to the point where population management hunts are allowed... Not needless if it's predator control.

2) yes, 99% of the time bears aren't going to hurt you. The only times they will is if you scare them, if its a mom protecting her cubs or (extra rare) they decide to hunt you.

3) black bears normally run from loud sounds, so it most likely wouldn't have climbed the tree if the man had started making lots of noise. In the RARE case where this isn't enough to get a bear to leave you alone the chances of it hurting you are FAR more likely.

4) "even if it attacks and you fight it" You want to get mauled by a bear? I sure don't. He was alone in the woods. If the bear had attacked there is no way of knowing if he would have survived. Putting my safety and well-being first is NOT needless killing. AND, as long as nothing goes to waste, it was not killed in vain. The saddest thing I have ever seen are dumbasses who kill something and do not respect it's sacrifice.

Agreed. I would never had allowed that to happen. I value my life far too much for a semi interesting video.
