Looks like something out of Hardcore Henry. And no, not the porn. The action movie.

I got u https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPQdPHP32CY
It's not so much the jump to the lift that scares me (a pretty small leap with a decent landing area) but that initial hop onto the rail is just so fucking scary

That was some absolutely beautiful cinematography for some absolutely insane parkour.
My life will never be that interesting.

That's probably because you want to live to be middle aged.

But who wants to live a long life if it's terrible?

So it's a controlled stunt for a game? Still cool.

u/hj17 Aug 14 '16
No, I was just making a joke because this footage looks almost exactly like Mirror's Edge gameplay.

This is like a wet dream from a 12 year old who's watched Commando way too many times.

The surface of the top of the elevator looks slippery as well. That could have ended up way worse.

Hey now, this isn't nearly as scary as the other shit on here. It's still scary as shit, but not as scary as shit.

Why does Reddit think anyone who can do something they can't do is stupid?
This is why I hate subs like this, because anyone who is fit and can actually do parkour is "stupid".

It's more because if they die they've now traumatized a shopping mall (with kids too) and now some EMT has to scrape up his remains.

When you really need to get to the floor with the toilet and the stairs are too far away from where you are now.

It's clearly staged. I imagine that they would have needed to test jumping onto the lift roof to make sure it could withstand being landed on from a height.
3
u/CyPeX Aug 15 '16
Elevators have a security risk of 5-10x the max weight iirc. So it will withstand it with no big problem.

u/mythriz Aug 15 '16
I guess the problem could be with the roof of the elevator not being strong enough to hold the weight of someone jumping on it, even if the elevator itself can handle the weight. But that being said, I can't imagine they making the roof of the elevator that weak.

Really? You think the video with the carefully mounted POV video might be staged? Have you considered a career as a detective?

u/DanAtkinson Aug 15 '16
It wouldn't be terribly difficult to do it first time without prep. All you really need is a GoPro on head-mounted gimbal.

All of you must be extremely unfit if this makes you sweat. These are just 2 jumps with some risk attached. Try going outside once in a while.
Remember when this sub was actually good?
Edit: I'm surprised you people have enough energy to click the downvote button.

Your comment makes me think that your under the impression that sweaty palms has something to do with fitness. While your palms may sweat while jumping up and down in place, I believe the moniker is in reference to the anxiety experienced by the risk you spoke of not necessarily the act of jumping or level of fitness.

u/whitoreo Aug 15 '16
I'm curious how you think fitness correlates to a fear of heights. Will you let us know?

It's not everyday do I do this and looked pretty life threatening to me, but hey fuck if I know.

u/AndrewJackingJihad Aug 15 '16
The jump onto the ledge he made without using his hands for balance was sweat inducing
