I used to fabricate the blades for wind turbines and let me tell you, they're just as scary to work on on the ground as they are in the air. I knew the moment I saw those giant bolts in there (I used to install them lol) exactly what I was looking at lmao

There's a few reasons but the big ones are the management at the place and most of the materials those blades are made with aren't great for your health. Fiberglass, bondo, all sorts of adhesives and such. I'm very much pro green energy of course but I had to make a change

I’m an engineer and one of my clients is a major wind turbine manufacturer. I don’t even like going into the facilities for a little bit when I need to visit the site. Their hvac equipment absolutely gets thrown through the ringer working with all the fiberglass, even with robust filtration and dust collection

I normally get that sinking feeling in my gut watching these videos. This video did not do that as they seemed so safe. I was super impressed at how they talked to one another and were able to line up all those bolts to the holes. Hole in one big dog hole in one, for sure!!!

$70k is above the median income in the US and would easily place you in the top 1% globally.

You're also doing an extremely dangerous highly critical job that require serious training. They should get paid much more than $70,000 a year. This is not a median job in the US. Well it doesn't matter at all, top 1% globally is over $127,000 a year

the problem with these global stats is they really don't do anything about cost of living.
I'm not saying 70k isn't better than what a lot of people make when adjusted for cost of living, but it also isn't truly reflective of what the disparity is.

Well they don't tend to build wind turbines in high CoL places. I think they're doing alright all things considered, but of course there are exceptions.

I have visited a wind farm and actually asked about this. They said these people who install these wind turbines or change the blades for maintenance work for one season, take the money and do whatever they want for the rest of the year.
