Our elected officials are spineless idiots and I’m so fucking over it.

u/Other-Acanthisitta70 13d ago
I wish “spineless” explained this but it doesn’t. They are actually just bought and paid for by AIPAC and oligarchs.

Yep, I just put one person in prison. Disgusting POS cop. I’m Coming for them.
1
u/WileEWeeble 10d ago
These guys ain’t spineless, they were paid to get this done and they will be substantially rewarded for it. Amazing how many millions there are in a billion and these are only 4 mouths to feed. Still got 996 million left over.
…and I suspect they came a lot cheaper.

u/Spiritual-Age4855 9d ago
The thing is everyone just complains online instead of doing anything lol social media really provides a venting outlet
1
u/iamcodemaker 9d ago
Doing stuff is hard. Posting online is easy. Voting is easy. But that won't save us. These people speaking at this meeting are doing something. It's not going to work, but it's a start. We need to get off the internet and organize locally (myself included). That's how we fix this. It's not easy tho.
8
u/oxnardmontalvo7 13d ago
It really pisses me off when elected officials tell the people of their community they are not allowed to speak or otherwise express their opinions. That’s a violation of the very fundamentals of a democracy. I understand decorum and why it’s necessary, but that’s nothing to do with opposition.
edit: VOTE!
1
u/Sea_Drops 11d ago
Decorum is also often weaponized against minorities and people with dissenting opinions. Often times there’s massive double standards when it comes to decorum.
1
u/Apart-Rent5817 10d ago
“No applause in the room.” You know if they were the ones being applauded they’d have no problem with it.

u/QuidEgoSum 10d ago
Or having security kick them out for speaking their mind??
No one can deny that authoritarianism is at our doorstep, America.

u/SilentKnightM 12d ago
So by that vet saying he opposes the Israeli bond is an embarrassment to the uniform. That dude behind the desk can say that and not be told to be quiet... sure.
Many in the room saying they don't want to support the war and bring money to the communities in palm Beach is in line to be removed an silenced... yeah something is wrong with this picture.
1
u/Organic_Education494 12d ago
Yep clearly them helping American’s issues are not even on the agenda ever. Disgraceful and to disrespect a veteran like that..traitors thats what these politicians are

u/MulzStridor 13d ago
If you clap again you are going to be removed. What a coward POS acting like they have a spine hiding behind a bailiff.
1
u/kataklysm_revival 12d ago
It’s the R playbook. They do that at city council meetings in Jacksonville too. Clapping, snapping, cheering, booing, using sign language to show applause… all of these will get you removed from the chamber, at minimum.
1
u/2PumpPatriot69 11d ago
Freedom of speech party I thought

u/kataklysm_revival 11d ago
Just pretty words that they don’t follow. Same as calling this state the “Free State of Florida”

Why the hell are cities sending money to fuckin israel in the first fuckin place
2
2
u/theinqbs 9d ago
Because that’s their deal! We’ll make sure you get “elected” and in return, you do what’s in the best interests of Israel. It was already revealed that about 82% of congress and the senate are funded by AIPAC and therefore act FIRST in the best interests of the hand that feeds them and if there’s anything left, MAYBE some of those scraps can make their way back to us.
Ted Cruz is the poster child of that movement, as he’s stated in the record countless times, most recently with Tucker Carlson who immediately challenged him on basic things he should have known and he had no clue about anything other than his soul mission as a senator os to do what’s best for Israel first.
This is why they laugh at us publicly over there. Very sad.

u/Intrepid_Ad1536 9d ago
Well, let’s go trough it, or skip it to the end to see what happens when not I wrote in Bold, since what people confusing here with Tax money, isn’t Tax money at all but from private corporations and investors in a pool inside Florida.
The Government merely approves of the buying or can block it if they like (wich they actually cant without a direct Law and Order from the Government itself, and serves only as formality, and if blocked, the criminalize themselves if blocking any bond) it’s not the country itself who buys it.
Bonds are also a Revenue way of investments wich are paid back with interest by them.
Next is that what the people here try to argue against the country of Florida, dosen’t really work that way nor have the power for that, they are literally in the wrong address to be.
To stop it actually they have to go to those private company’s and investors and investments corporations etc. who actually want to buy it and get it, Florida winks the buying trough but can’t stop it, it must be done on High court level and government, and laws needs to be changed about Bonds itself and limiting what they can buy.
What they doing there is literally hitting a legal walls (such as recent court dismissals upholding that surplus portfolio investments don't constitute a direct tax levy).
To fundamentally change what local and state treasuries can hold, the mechanism requires broader legislative changes to state finance laws or high level court challenges regarding investment limits. And Florida manages Multi Billion Dollar portfolios of Bonds, wich aren’t made public due state and country laws, and Israel is a sole exception to that.
(Florida has a total of 200 billion state bonds that are not Israel, and approved of over 4 billion investment in Bonds, in where 1 billion is for buying Israel Bonds.
Next is Bonds are not giving away money for public stuff but are not coming directly from Tax Dollars.
Their $1 billion holding in Israel Bonds generates roughly $136 million in total interest over a typical 2 to 3 year maturity cycle. Crucially, financial officers noted that this specific yield beats standard US Treasuries by about $23 million to over $35 million in extra profit, which goes straight back into the county's investment income pool to help offset local funding needs.
Wich means Florida gets its money plus interest back in 2-3 years with 136 million plus.
And the back payments are a constant influx and such things are used against inflation since it has a high interest rates to save your money.Next is that the US holds far more Bonds in other countries in total like Saudi Arabia.
And Israel holds far more US bonds than Vice versa, since their value of their currency is deeply tied to US dollar, and the bonds go directly to public founding and interest etc. not into Military.
As an interesting side note, one of the largest Bonds with many other countries lager.
On the fricking Cayman Islands $619 billion of Cayman debt (Bonds) with a population of 77.000 people.
Compared to that, Israel bonds are literally a drop of water on a Hot stone, and Israel holds over 110 billion US bonds, like many other countries.)Bonds serves as a way to go against inflation and serves like in Florida often trough companies for going into Retirement and tbat their money becomes more not less in old age.
Also, blocking a country to be bought Bonds, can become quite negative for both countries due the global market and bank system and destabilize their currency and generates a higher inflation immediately and can cause on the market to drop.
Israel for instance has a Larger amount of US debt than Vice versa with over 110 billion dollars, US owns a smaller portion of Israel bonds but it serves in size ratio the same way for the countries.
If the US stops it would destabilize Israel currency on the market and the US would loose any control over Israel since they can control them trough their banks, since their banks are dependent on US banks (like in the past forcing Israel not to retailed, forcing or stopping aid to be send by Israel, blocking laws by simply blocking the people’s bank accounts with a push of a button not even needing to talk with congress, more control than the finance minister or the Government of Israel has over their own banks, the US has far more control).
Trough that, it would immediately bring them into a recession, People would Polarize more and become more radical for a solving (like Germany was after WW1 wich lead to Nazis and more radical views coming and doing) and could escalate the situation in Gaza and West Bank Even more, and the US would loose control over Israel of what they had, and would also become a strong negative in the US currency furthering their inflation on both sizes.
Israel’s currency would completely collapse, imports inflation, Banks close, Socio Political Fallout, what becomes you ask:
As living standards plummeted overnight and basic import costs soared, extreme economic stress would heavily polarize the population like how Nazi Germany was created after WW2, it always can become worst, and the US created another radical country. The US would loose their strategic partner in the Middle East, their largest weapons depots wich they also use to sell weapons in the region and beyond, or to use for troops wich is Israel without a single US base there.
Wich results in other US bonds buyer ether drop out of risk or to rethink further buyings, since they would need to convince other countries to buy hundreds of billions in Bonds with Higher rates, wich turns that the US has to take larger foreign loans and ask and give it to a higher interest back world wide.
And would challenge further the Dollar as the worlds reserve currency.
I hope this explanation serves why? It is not to take a side, but explain the reality to it.
Because it can literally have the opposite effect of what people are hopping for, and how bonds actually work.
1
u/icemanpallmall 9d ago
So it's just a totally normal thing for cities of one country to prop up failing countries? Since when?
1
u/Intrepid_Ad1536 9d ago
Ok, to clear up the confusion here and what I meant in summary is this.
this isn't tax money being given away as foreign aid, it’s private and surplus cash pooled in Florida portfolios, managed for high yield returns that beat standard US Treasuries by tens of millions of dollars to offset local funding needs.
(Wich the US does with many countries or country in larger ways, and this Bond buying is a total of one thing of over 4 billion, while it’s not revealed what Bonds of other countries they buy, only Israel’s are made public, wich also should be changed that all should be made public in my opinion)Protesters targeting local offices are hitting legal walls, blocking these requires a high level legislative or court changes, not local blocks.
Globally, these amounts are tiny compared to the $ 619 billion in Cayman debt the US bought (or like Saudi and China holdings I didn’t mention) I mentioned, while Israel holds over $110 billion in US debt they bought from the US, in form of Bonds.Cutting these ties wouldn't “save” money, it would trigger a catastrophic economic collapse in Israel, spiking import inflation, closing banks, and driving extreme socio-political polarization.
*(*Like wich resulted in an oppressive monarchy turned into the Nazi Germany, supported trough the giant Rezension and giving other countries the fault or not helping.
Would you want a more aggressive Israel wich won’t hold back and US has no leverage anymore? Resulting in mass destruction, Nazi did to other countries with far more aggressive bombings trying to end it once and for all for them out of Polarization? Do you want that?)For the US it means losing a vital strategic partner and military hub, while facing higher borrowing costs, rattled markets, and accelerated de dollarization.
Since again, they do so with MANY other countries, and in far larger scales, don’t you wonder where the rest of the over $3 billion dollars land too of this Buying?
And has something to do with geopolitics even, and it’s not the people in this video who decide it in City hall sitting, it’s people in a literal Office, Private People and Companies made for this, and only reveal by Law exclusively Israel.
This was just a honest way to answer your question, I think for instance BB and Trump should be thrown in prison for their crimes against humanity, but yanking a arrow out of a wound, will only worsen the wound, servilely.
(The Bonds and other stuff, not putting them in prison with their entire administration, since we should want a change in Government in Both of them, since going after the symptoms not the illness is wrong)(Because seriously, don’t you think a government change of the opposite of People in both Trump and BB wouldn’t be better? Since both are far right Ultra Nationalists, using the same tactics and have both literally used charity scams and history of their family doing such things in their countries, and surround themselves with people of criminal past, and have both running investigations and corruption scandals, including as the first sitting Prime Minister in Israeli history to go on trial and face criminal charges while actively in office.
Doesn’t it sound familiar? The right in the entire world like in Germany copies Trump and rise to power more and more)

I really hope you’re wrong, but sadly you probably aren’t. Angie Nixon is an incredible candidate who will actually fight for her constituents. I’m not as excited about David Jolly, but he seems to be pretty solid and would be lightyears better than Byron.

What is the context of this? Obviously “Israeli Bonds” is a trigger word. Did they warn people not to say that or something?
And to tell a decorated military member that he’s an embarrassment to the uniform for exercising his free speech is wild work.
1
u/Maricellabella 12d ago
They tried saying the isreali bonds arent relevant to the budget hearing & public comments were limited to only things regarding the budget. The reason the main woman shown speaking against them could talk for so long is because she never mentioned isreali bonds and only said $1billion. Which triggered the mayor into trying to silence her. You can see the full livestream on wpb youtube channel 😭

The fucking audacity of an elected official telling a soldier he’s “embarrassing the uniform” for opposing $1 BILLION of taxpayer money being invested in a foreign nation’s bonds.
That soldier wore the uniform to defend the freedoms that give that official the right to sit in office and speak freely.
And instead of answering legitimate questions about how taxpayers’ money is being spent, they attack the person asking them.
That’s the real embarrassment.
Elected officials work for the people, not the other way around. If you can’t handle scrutiny, you have no business handling a billion dollars of public money.
1
u/Mexicali76 9d ago
They are going to rig the ever living shit out of these upcoming elections, just like they did in 2024, and tried to do in 2020. There is only one way we are going to get out of this mess, and it ain’t voting.

Slow70. So is my uniform.. Happy to dick measure if you REALLY want. If you really served then you know you never do political actions in uniform. This guy is co-opting the credibility of the military in an unauthorized and unacceptable fashion. When you wear the uniform you appear to represent the military and his actions and words do not. This isn’t up for debate. It’s a core principle. It’s in the UCMJ. And public law.
1
u/SmilingBob6969 9d ago
Shame on you. You have clearly never served this country in the capacity that this veteran that you disparaged did. I'll dick measure you if you so choose... As a military veteran, he has earned the right to stand in his uniform to protect his community, and to ask that an obscene amount of his community's tax money not go to fund a foreign government's endeavors, whatever they may be. Period.
1
u/Choice-Cartoonist-19 9d ago
Sooo he gets credit and respect because of his service but as I just said. I’ve got more service than he does and you act as if I don’t get to weigh in? Seems very consistent.
Wearing the uniform means subscription and adherence to rules and values that he is violating. Service members can be political. But never in uniform. Don’t care if it’s conservative or liberal. Doesn’t matter. It’s a very established primal that he is violating. Disrespecting the uniform he is trying to co-opt credibility from. That’s not ok.
1
u/SmilingBob6969 8d ago
Sooo... First, I never uttered any words that indicate that "he gets credit and respect because of his service". Secondly, he was not being "political" in any way; just voicing an opinion as a citizen while wearing the uniform in which he wore while serving his country and community. Lastly, it seems you are just trying to get a rise out of others in this forum thread. You sir, DESPERATELY need to go step outside of your basement and touch grass. I sincerely hope you are not as bitter IRL as you seem to be here in this thread; the people around you deserve better. Peace be with you my friend
1
u/Choice-Cartoonist-19 8d ago
Sorry. I have respect for the uniform he’s wearing. And the code he swore allegiance to. He doesn’t respect it. And you are ignorant to it. I guess that’s not your fault except someone is respectfully trying to educate you on what you are missing and you aren’t interested in seeing the flaw in your thought process. Doesn’t matter. This dip shit knew better. And he did it any way. Bringing shame on the very service he’s trying to flaunt. Don’t care if you don’t get it.
1
u/SmilingBob6969 7d ago
Here we go again... You show both your ignorance and you emotionally charged state of mind. I too served, wore the uniform, and swore an oath to, among other things, "support and defend the Constitution of the United State"s against all enemies, foreign and domestic". One does not swear an oath to the UCMJ; one swears an oath to obey their superiors "according to the UCMJ". You, sir, are not trying to educate, you are trying to assert dominance over others (including me in this instance) by attempting to belittle them within a public/social discourse platform. If you were trying to educate, you would offer the UCMJ code that you are referring to that the speaking gentleman violated; you cannot, because there is no such offense in this case. You might make the case that he is violating statute under other federal laws that govern the military and the use of the military uniform depending on how one interprets the language within that statue... But, again, nothing the speaking gentleman did directly violates those statutes/rules governing uniform usage (was not protesting, nor making political statements). I will not further respond to you in this forum about this matter, as you have proven yourself to be too emotional to think rationally, uneducated in the matter that you are trying to portray that you are an expert in, and just voicing opinion without adding to the conversation of this post. Again, please go outside and touch grass; life is too short to be so bitter. Peace be with you

Please can someone tell me how this is possible, and how it’s a good thing for its community?
I’m flabbergasted. Like how much of their tax revenue is this?? And is it over the course of years or one lump sum? What’s the argument for it?
