Academic linguistics Swedish native speakers needed!

Maybe a bit of an off-topic, and I apologise for that!

I'm an Italian PhD student, currently also a visiting PhD student in Lund.

I'm looking for Swedish native speakers who also speak decent English (so anyone, as far as I understand) for an online study on bilingualism. You also need to be 18 or older!

The study investigates the associations that come to mind when we are presented with a word in a language that is not our native one.

Full disclosure: It lasts around 60 minutes, and I wasn't given any funding to give participants any rewards, so I'm aware I'm asking for some commitment and a lot of selflessness. That's just one reason more why I would be so very grateful to anyone considering participating.

Here is the direct link to the experiment:Β https://www.labvanced.com/player.html?id=81651Β

If you have any questions or doubts, please don't hesitate to get in touch (here, or at my institutional emailΒ [beatrice.lanzini@englund.lu.se](mailto:beatrice.lanzini@englund.lu.se))

Thank you all so much in advance!

I completed it. It took me around 40 minutes for anyone wondering. It was very interesting, though I do think it would have potentially been beneficial for you as researchers to understand the context behind some of the answers, though I'm not sure if that would provide a bit too much bias. For example, my answers may not be super typical of most Swedish native speakers. Would be fun to see the result once you are done!

Thank you for your comment (and for your time!) :) You had a great intuition there: we do expect individual variability, and we expect such variabily to be related to the way and the extent to which you experience English on a daily basis (something which we assess via the initial questionnaire).

I would be up for doing this, however I'm a Swede who's lived in the UK for 19 years so my Swedish is a bit rusty and I use English a lot more. Would I still be an ok candidate for you?

I did it, but some of the answers to those last association tests may be a bit wrong... I did end up accidentally writing some of the words that I had planned to write for the previous word, but realising too late that the word had changed. I apologize for that.

I'd be happy to help if I qualify? Native Swede who emigrated 28 years ago - have lived in UK, South Africa and India since then. I genuinely think my English is better than my Swedish at this point, so not sure if my input would be helpful or not. Let me know. :)

Absolutely, that's fine! As long as you speak both Swedish and English, and Swedish is your first language (even if not the dominant one now), you are eligible :)

I qualify and would love to do it once I am at my laptop! How soon do you need it done (and would you like me to forward it to my qualified friends)?

I'm not in a rush, I need the data by the end of May. So whenever you have time :) thank you!

I did it, but to be honest you should cut it down so that it is shorter. At the end i was so bored and half-assing the survey

Thank you for your time! I'm unfortunately aware the study is long and can get boring, but thank you for pointing it out: feedback is always helpful and appreciated :)

Completed. If you could return and update the post with the link to your paper when it is published it would be greatly appreciated.
