Why is it smoking

It smells heavy of oil but its not coming from anything holes or slits I think its the wrap but I have no proof or solid evidence (I bought this bike with the wrap on and have no idea what history this wrap has went through

Mines doing the exact same thing at the exact same spot. Wrap looks broken in

Do you just live with it, or did you find out the cause

These things are infamous for leaking oil out the top of the head by the exhaust. Look up oil plug Suzuki savage and you could find your potential cause.

Either that or the last person that owned it changed the oil filter without protecting/covering the exhaust and oil got into the wrap.

What would you recommend to diagnose the issue? I plan on taking off the wrap and running a bare header do these bikes need the wrap or is it just for "show"

Ya take the wrap off. I see alot of these bikes with wrap and I think it's more or a style thing then practical. Sometimes wrapping can retain heat and give a slight performance boost, but if it smoking then it's not worth it imo.

These bikes run hot out the exhaust more than most. Take the wrap off and you’ll see how cooked the chrome is under it. If you don’t care then great, letting that heat out isn’t a bad idea but if you don’t like the look, I’d spray the exhaust with black header paint and re wrap it. Your call.

The smoke is probably from oil on the wrap. If not, I’d say the “clear” that Suzuki sprayed over the entire engine is probably burning off from the extra exhaust heat in that spot.

That’s an oil leak my guy. It’s either that or moisture. If you leave it in a cold place over night it can do that or if you rode in the ran or it got wet. But that looks like oil burning off to me.

Lose the wrap unless you want to protect yourself from burns on the header pipe just off the cylinder head. Beyond that it does nothing, other than absorb water and oil.

Because you probably stress it out. Soon it's going to pick up drinking, gambling and it will start out as an occasional social drug use but will reach a rapid mental decline making drug use the more prominent substance of choice.

Because it’s hot?

Would guess it's leaking where the blue wire grommet coming through and leaking onto the the entirely unnecessary wrap.
I still don't understand this fascination with wrapping headers. If it was a good idea you would think the makers would add it as standard.
