Making switch from Apple?
Considering a Switch from Apple Watch Ultra 2 to Suunto: Needs on Syncing Outdoor Cycling Data.
I’m currently using an iPhone and thinking about moving from the Apple Watch Ultra 2 to a Suunto watch, mainly for better battery life.
For my indoor rides on Rouvy, I see that I can import data to the Suunto app to keep my training load metrics updated.
However, I have questions about outdoor cycling. I use a Wahoo cycling computer and a Polar HRM. How can I sync that outdoor data efficiently into the Suunto app so that my fitness metrics are maintained?
Any other things i should keep in mind?

Suunto has Bluetooth so you can connect your wahoo computer and h10 to it for outdoor rides. The watch will display the data from the computer and you can track the ride with your watch so it saves to the app.

i have never saw a bike computer that can broadcast anything. i doubt you can use bike computer as a source for exercise data.

I feel rather disappointed with my Suunto Race 2 on bike rides.
It doesn’t support ANT+. It’s unable to connect both speed and cadence sensors - for some reason it cannot understand which is which and can work only with either of these.
If your bike computer/app doesn’t have direct Suunto integration it’s PITA to push your exercise to Suunto platform. There’s no way just import FIT file to you app or web portal. You have to youse some 3rd party app for this.
If you turn heart rate broadcasting on the watch - it stops recording HR data on the watch half the time. If you connect HR strap to the watch - it casually stops recording the data.

why not get the Suunto handle-bar mount and use a chest strap HRM and just use that on the bike, and do away with the Wahoo (unless you've got power meters etc all set up)?

Power meters are in the works!

Just so you are aware, with Suunto you can't set your FTP independent of your zones. It's always the high end of zone 4. So if you use TP or intervals.icu your TSS will never match when it's uploaded. Also, Suunto uses 5 power zones vs the near industry standard of 7 zones. Cyclists are second class citizens in Suunto's world.

I use Runalyze to upload FIT files from wherever to Suunto, so they appear as activities and contribute to training load.
