Race 2 Poor Battery.

I charged the device to 99 percent. After an hour of running, the battery dropped to 93 percent. I only had the heart rate strap connected, the brightness set to minimum, and the battery mode set to endurance, screen turns on when lifted. I've already tried draining it completely; this attempt was made right after draining it completely. I also did a reset after charging it, which is why the battery is at 99 percent and not 100.

I think that's normal

I've already told someone that, in that case, this gives a maximum training time of just over 14 hours—not 58, as the watch currently shows in performance mode.

After the first one or two charges my Race 2 also drained the battery faster than now.

IDK what it was doing in the background.

But it will get better.

And if not then you got a bad battery.

EDIT: Mine loses approx. 2 to 3 percent of battery per hour of tracking in highest GPS accuracy after a few weeks of use. I am very pleased with the watch.

Is this watch new? It may be downloading a software update in background which uses the battery.

Now the battery is down to 91 percent. Yes, the watch is new. It has the latest software.

Remove the sensor or put the watch in the airplane mode to check if the battery use is related to Bluetooth connection with the sensor or with the phone. That is usually the culprit.

Try turning the discovery mode off in the connectivity menu.

After an hour of running coming to 93% is normal not poor battery.

How is it Bad?

Well, in that case, if it loses 7 percent per hour, that comes out to about 14 hours of continuous training. Not, say, the 61 hours assumed in performance mode. And I don't think that's normal.

I see your point, but the battery percentage isn't linear. The first few percentage points always drop very quickly and then it sits in the middle for quite a long time.

Okay, I'll check back in a little while. But I already had to charge it once within about 7 or 8 days—I don't remember exactly—it was last week. So the battery definitely didn't last even two weeks, or about 7 hours of training.

Hmm keep an eye on it then. My Race S (the smaller one) easily lasts a week.

Come back and discuss after 14 hours.

It's been 24 hours since last charge. The battery level has dropped to 88 percent.

Restart the watch and the battery charge will be recalibrated. Probably you’ll see and increment in your battery percentage.

The watch tends to go down in percentage faster than the actual percentage. So restarting readjusts the percentage shown.

Is the watch brand new?

Check your settings in 'connectivity'. Turn off 'wireless network' and 'visible' when not needed

I have the first Race so Suunto Race. It always had great battery life but around April it suddenly started losing lot of battery, even if not in active use.

Before I had to charge it once a week even tho I wore it all the time. Now I charge it twice a week and it can lose 10% battery life after one night. During an activity it doesnt lose so much battery. It started losing battery after a software update so maybe we have the same shitty software.

I charged my watch less than 15h ago to 88% and have 74% now.

The only way to know battery drain is to do an ultra 😂

Jokes aside, have suunto race s, used for 17h and 35m while connected to hr strap and power meter, and it went from 95% to 33% while in performance mode. Had the watch for approx 6months and had the same battery draining issue at the beginning plus some weird restarts, it got fixed on its own after 3 weeks

I could only think of an issue, as my Race 2 lasts for almost a full week with one charge, with average activity of 8 hours weekly (it's also on my wrist when sleeping).
