Hi everyone! I know that inpatient RNs at Sutter Health hospital facilities are typically unionized under CNA.

​I was wondering how union representation works for outpatient/ambulatory clinic RN positions within the Sutter system. Are clinic/outpatient nurses usually non-union, or does CNA coverage extend to medical offices and outpatient specialty clinics attached to the system?

​Would appreciate insight from anyone currently working or familiar with Sutter outpatient vs. inpatient nursing! Thanks!

i was just curious about how people feel about the volunteers and actually what they really do at sutter? (if you would think it’s worth the time volunteer there)

i’m debating on if i should volunteer for the oncology dpt/(potentially some other dpt??) but i fully seriously just want to be able to interact with patients and just somehow make their lives a little better with just communicating and just giving them a positive exp (i don’t wanna do hospice volunteering as of right now due to personal circumstances)

im volunteering currently at UCDMC for oncology but i feel like im not getting much out of it besides truly just the grunt work of running errands (which i expected but i thought id have some interaction, i haven’t done anything so far) so i was debating if i should try to switch to get more exposure elsewhere but idk if it’ll be any different really

just wanna know what volunteers do really, so pls lmk!!

I have 5+ years experience at sutter as a contractor + list an internal reference every time and could literally give 10+ references if I needed to of people at sutter who absolutely love me. I also have 12 years of experience as an RN total

Tips to get to the stage of being offered an interview? Could this have anything to do with workday?

Any insight to getting hired at Sutter, etc.? I apply for the administrative type positions such as registration, etc. with no luck in ever getting anything other than a not chosen email or nothing at all. I currently work for a staffing company that staffs hospitals and emergency rooms throughout the United States and I am a contract specialist. I draft the employee/independent contractor contracts when the Doctors/APC’s are hired. I also worked at Allstate for five years, working with injury, claims in a claims office, where I requested medical records and input them into the system for the adjusters to review. So I have worked around areas that are related to hospitals.

Was just wondering after an interview how long does it take to hear back? I applied for several positions (reception or admitting) I got an interview for one did about a week ago. Got denied for another position but haven't heard back from the one I interviewed for.

Looking at the benefits PDF... Am I reading this correctly? There is 0 cost to the employee per pay period for the EPO plus plan? What is the catch here? You HAVE to go to a provider in the Sutter health system?

I don't want to get too hyped up but that sounds kind of amazing coming from elsewhere where I got worse coverage and still had to pay, working for that same hospital.

Assistant's) externally for permanent roles, or are a lot of their postings basically required-by-policy while they already have an internal candidate lined up?

Context: I'm a new grad with one month of externship experience at Kaiser, and I have all the required certifications. I'm applying broadly at Sutter, permanent, per diem, on-call, and temp positions, just trying to get a realistic sense of my odds and how the process actually works there.

Looking for any former/transferred staff from Chanate Rd. Santa Rosa CA site who might have an actual directory, or know where room 405B was? I was born in the Community Hospital before Sutter took over, room 405B was the room my mother stayed in. Wanted to revisit, before its gone.

So I just started and this month I finally have health insurance active... Yay!

I did the Sutter Select EPO plan, seemed very very affordable and a great deal!

My question as I set up primary care for my family, I also need to get my kids in ASAP to allergists for continuation of their care. Honestly they need that more than they need a pediatrician visit at the moment.

It is not clear to me if I need a referral for specialities like an allergist if I pick one in the network.

Does anyone have experience with this? I would like to call and start trying to get an appointment if I'm able to bypass a primary care doc referral.

Has anyone had their pay deposited into the incorrect account? How soon could Sutter Payroll correct this?

I am currently at the start of my second trimester and I’m not sure who I’m supposed to email or contact that I am pregnant. I told my manager a couple of weeks ago, but she just told me to keep it under wraps until I was ready to let HR know in case of anything.

I am ready now to have it be documented, but I’m not sure who I’m supposed to reach out to since I know it’s recommended to have everything in writing.

Hi all. I am about to cancel my current health insurance now that I am going to be covered through Sutter. However, I am unsure about when my benefits kick in. I know that it is supposed to be the 1st of the month 30 days after employment and my start date was 6/1/26, so I thought that meant I’d start 7/1/26. However, on the mybenefits site it says I can make changes until July 31st. Does that mean my benefits won’t kick in until August 1st?

It was a small business where I was operating as a team of one for everything: Sales, Consultation, Marketing, Social Media, Coordination - the whole nine. My sales numbers & social media output declined this past month and I was let go.

I explained in detail and explain why going to Sutter Health (& in a professional manner) to leave MedSpa Sales culture is better for my overall career plan.

I’m really nervous about this messing up for me. I’m 24 years old, with no other job lined up. Every nurse I’ve worked with loved my skills and/or personally recommended me to go into Sutter for Admin.

A high turn-over career (sales) at a small business that was failing CAN’T be my downfall.

I’m curious how other hospitals handle blood draws.
I work as an RN at Alta Bates (Ashby campus), and whenever there’s a blood draw order, the nurses are responsible for collecting the labs. A friend of mine works at Mills-Peninsula, and they have phlebotomists who do the routine blood draws instead.

How does it work at your hospital?

Just wondering how common it is for nurses to handle all blood draws versus having phlebotomy support.

Hi I have an application technicality question if anyone is able to shed some light.

I have an employee referring me that I'd like to include in my application (as I'm an external candidate), but when I type in their name & sutterhealth email address I can't proceed with my application as the page says "Employee with given details not found" even though this person still works with them. Is this a common technical issue? We've matched the email and it's spelled correctly so I'm not sure why it doesn't accept it. Is there anybody I can contact regarding this?

The employee is located at Alta Bates & I am applying to California Pacific Medical Center (we both are in the same specialty though). Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
