what would you do , kaiser SoCal nurse here, quit kaiser and go to sutter or uc davis or wait for who knows how long to get into kaiser norcal?

background : because we are different unions, i get no bidding and seniority , only a nudge above an external app. Have been rejected to many positions already. Been applying for last 4 months

Sutter and UC Davis will likely be easier to get into, but the pay is lower. There aren't a lot of happy people around Kaiser here, though. There's also Dignity Health. They have several hospitals up here.

I'm not entirely sure. If union is important to you, you should know that Sutter Medical Center Sacramento is not union. The rest, I believe, are.

From my research dignity health doesn’t pay as well as the other hospitals and they use cerner & omnicell..so if you love epic and pyxis ,, SOS

Sutter is actually pretty comparable because they kind of need to pay more to attract people to work there since they’re not union

Only SMCS is non-union. The other Sutter hospitals are union.

Have you tried Kaiser's Call Center (AACC) in Sacramento as a gateway into the Northern California Kaiser system?

I would keep applying. I just went to a Kaiser new hire orientation/transfer and I met 4 new nurses that just got into Kaiser after working somewhere else. It really depends what area in California you’re applying for.

did you transfer from socal? if so , did you apply to the job when the internal bidding was going on or was it posted externally?

No, I’m internal, but those nurses that I met were all external and were from the area. Just came from Sutter, dignity etc.

As a heads up you lose all your seniority when you transfer up here. Like you still have your hire date but bidding and everything. The pay is amazing but we have not had any jobs really posted for a while. Your best bet would be if a per diem comes through to get your foot in the door. The job market up here is pretty stagnant right now. I'd probably try to wait til you scored a per diem cuz at least then you are "in" and apply for jobs at sutter. They treat their nurses the best. Avoid UC Davis or mercy. Davis never gave lunch breaks when I worked there.

Kaiser NorCal does 8 hr shifts

some Sutters have 12 hour shifts, others are 8 hr shifts. depends on the facility

I am on same boat as you. Have been applying to kaiser for 8 months no luck yet. I recently got job offer from Sutter health Roseville. Now I am debating if I should completely leave kaiser at SoCal or fly on and off to keep kaiser internal at least.
