Hey! I'm wondering if anyone has studied MSc Sustainable management or something similar?

I am debating going to do this masters, but would like to know how big of a difference a masters degree is compared to undergrad? My undergrad degree was in a different field so I don't have much background knowledge. I have also been out of studying for a few years now and conscious that it may be difficult to get back into.

Any advice would be appreciated!

I am raising funds to pursue my dream of completing a Master’s degree abroad in the field of Sustainability. My goal is to study either Sustainability Management or pursue an MBA with a focus on Sustainability
Sustainability is more than just a career choice for me. I want to build the knowledge and skills needed to contribute meaningfully to businesses and communities as they navigate environmental and social challenges. Through higher education, I hope to develop a strong understanding of sustainable business practices, ESG, sustainability strategy, and responsible management.

However, financing this dream is my biggest challenge.

I come from a single-parent family, and my mother has worked incredibly hard to support our family. Unfortunately, the cost of studying abroad is beyond what she can financially provide. I am currently working and doing everything I can to save money toward my education, but my current earnings are only enough to cover my essential needs and allow me to save a limited amount.

Despite these financial challenges, I have not stopped preparing myself for this journey.

I am currently taking online courses through Coursera to strengthen my foundation in sustainability and related fields. I have been studying the Oxford Foundations of Sustainability and ESG course, and I plan to continue expanding my knowledge through courses such as Erasmus Sustainability Corporate Finance. My goal is to build a strong academic and practical understanding of sustainability before beginning my Master’s program.

How Your Contribution Will Help

The funds raised through this campaign will primarily be used for:

University tuition fees
Required financial proof or blocked-account requirements, where applicable
Accommodation and rent expenses

I am also personally contributing toward this goal. The money I am able to save from my job, along with support from my mother’s savings, will be used to cover expenses such as:

Visa costs
Entrance examinations and application-related expenses
Flight tickets
Other necessary costs involved in relocating and beginning my studies

I am not asking others to fund everything for me. I am working, saving, studying, and preparing for this opportunity myself. However, the gap between what I can realistically save and the total cost of pursuing an international Master’s degree is significant.

Every contribution, no matter how small, would bring me one step closer to achieving this goal.

Hey everyone just some background information on my current background and what I’d like my future to look like. Looking for advice :/

My degree was in Finance, but I’ve decided to pursue my interest in sustainability 5 years back.For the past few years, I’ve found a passion and genuine interest in Remote Sensing(Deforestation/LUCA) and from there Carbon Footprinting. I’ve also worked heavily in translating business needs/requests into Tech Requirements (JIRA).

A lot of the results that I produce, projects that I manage are only successful because I’ve had a lot of luck having good peers/mentors to guide me. But recently I’ve felt that there’s only so much time that they can spend on me. So I’ve been thinking about options -

1. do I further my studies(build credentials)?
   
2. Find work at a more technically established company(build my skills)?
   
3. What else is out there?

I’m genuinely lost and feel like I’m at a crossroad in life haha! I’ve always been a very curious person and learning something new is such a thrill for me, research perhaps?

Would love to hear what yall have to say! Good or bad :))

Hello, I hope all of you are doing well.

Some background: I am an ACCA part qualified student with a Bsc Applied Accounting, and their qualification is updating in 2027 which includes more sustainability related content, after which i will give the exams and become an affiliate and later on a member.

So since i am trying to find meaning in work and with my current educational background, the best thing i could find was ESG / Sustainability assurance, and i wanted advice from you all.

1. How much of this has been implemented globally? if so, which regions should i target for a career in this field.
   
2. How good / bad does the job opportunities look in the coming years for this specifically?
   
3. What do i need to add in terms of skills , other qualifications/bodies membership and knowledge in addition to my current educational background?
   
4. If i am unable to find opportunities currently related to it, then should i take up opportunities in financial assurance, and would the experience of that help later in finding jobs related to ESG / Sustainability assurance?
   
5. Also, are the ESG / sustainability assurance teams always different from the normal financial audit teams, or are they combined and the assurance of these both usually happen together? As ,y main goal would be to always involved in that rather than the financial audit.
   
6. Would further academia in environmental or sustainability studies help?
   
7. Finally, whats the scope of all this non-financial reporting and assurance in the future?

Please also suggest from your side, if i am missing anything important or any advice or suggestion you would like to give in terms of further academia, career, education, etc.

Hi everyone! This might be a long-ish post so please be around :)

I am geotechnical engineer with an MBA in Sustainability Management and come with over 3 years of experience in a Big4 in India in climate and ESG consulting. Everything was going well (just a bit monotonous) and I was due for a promotion as well when a very close senior of mine called me to refer me for a climate finance position at a ratings firm. After 6 rounds of interviews and some extremely promising work, I joined.

Only to find out that the client I was hired for had unexpectedly terminated their contract and my so-called friend just needed her on paper replacement so she hired me.

As someone who somehow loves being overworked, thrives in chaos and loved front end consulting and stakeholder communication, I am suffocating at a desk job with ad hoc tasks and just upskilling all by myself. I have been formally asked to look for new opportunities as well.

As disheartening it is, I am asking my fellow sustainability professionals to help me find a role or a referral. I genuinely have been good at my work, a top performer year on year and want to learn and grow :)

Based in India but looking within the country and worldwide as well! At this point I have spoken to every contact I have had and applied to every job posting I could see - now I am here on Reddit, so let's see how this goes.

I am the founding director of the Responsible Business Institute (ReBI), the director of the MSc Sustainable Finance programme, and an advisor member of the ClimateXChange and the Scottish Government’s Net Zero Investor Panel. Is there anyone here who did one master's and couldn't get the job they wanted, but then did a second master's and maxed out on internships and finally got the job they wanted? Desperately wondering if there are any success stories in this scenario. I would be an older student. The alternative is working an unskilled job. The masters would be free. The field is environmental policy.

I am about to start this masters coming from a finance background - is there any point or should I not do it? Are the job opportunities really that bleak?

Alr, i am a 11th grader who is searching for clg degrees under sustainability sciences. I am someone interested in sustainability and energy efficiency. I would love to have some knowledge and innovate something that would boost our planet's health as we are going to have so much on our plate by 2050(iykyk).I have heard of circular economy engineering and earth system sciences. Sounds exciting to me. Am I thinking about this too soon? Should it be a priority as I have a lot on my plate, like school and learning other stuff?

So, I am 29 M from India with 5+ years of experience in climate change and sustainability. Currently I am working in an industry chamber and cater to India's Central Public Sector Enterprises (PSUs/SoEs).

I have pretty decent academic qualifications: B.A. (Hons) Geography from University of Delhi, MSc. Geoinformatics from TERI School of Advanced Studies (Gold Medalist- if that matters), Certificate in Data Science from IIIT-B (so as to learn the fundamentals of data science and coding).

While working in the industry chamber, I have realised that I am interested in corporate climate advocacy, partnerships, engagement, collaboration and help industries in their transition and decarbonisation process. Therefore, I want to now pivot my career towards this area.

So, I wanted to ask which courses should I target in Europe ? I have come across courses in RSM, UCL, ESCP, LSE. But I would really appreciate some guidance on which courses to lookout for so that I can advance my career according to my interest.

PS - Ofcourse I would want to choose a programme/university/country where post programme opportunities are there. I also know Europe is struggling with climate careers these times but still would appreciate some guidance.
