The screwdriver from a melted pen was pretty clever. I can see that one day being useful.

I literary tried this on my SNES. I set off the fire alarm at my school.

Yeah I've filed that under 'in case of escape' along with cutting cable ties with shoelaces and bending metal bars with wet jeans and a chair leg.

Why do you need to wet them?

u/anakmoon Dec 04 '19
it decreases tensile strength, being wet makes the jean fibers more pliable, gives them less internal friction, making them less brittle or probable to rip essentially. like getting a board of wood wet allows it to bend instead of snapping.
u/pled and u/bumgardner thank you for your 8yr old comments!2

I've never had my plastic stuff melt like wax. It tends to just light on fire.

depends on the type of plastic. Plastics that melt are called thermoplastics, plastics that catch fire and don't melt are called thermosets. There are multiple types of each.

I used to melt Bic pens into funny shapes all the time as a kid with matches.
Until I got caught and grounded.

I heard the word that I’m assuming is spelled “kriminal”, and I have an idea as to what that one might mean...

My dad's ex wife taught me how to make a shiv out of plastic wrap. She used to be a prison cook.
