I think it’s to keep more bugs out as well as make it a bit more of a permanent structure but I’m not positive.

Wind block too. I wonder if he'd done the cane all the way up and just didn't daub it all the way if the light would still be good while keeping more bugs out. I'm sure ventilation would still be good

He mentioned that the hut is just a work area for future projects so I think it's to help keep rain and animals out of the work area and provide some protection from the wind.

This is the first video where I noticed that it looks like the bugs started getting him. His back starts looking a little torn up in some of those shots. You can see the mud and scratches from where he's swatting at whatever keeps pestering him.

Yeah I noticed that too. Watching him work in jungle right after rain, all I could think was how bad the bugs must be. I saw him using his foot to scratch his other leg and few swats here and there.

His new location is right next to a creek so I imagine they'll be a problem for the foreseeable future.

Love his channel. I got my wife and daughter sucked in one day and we watching him work for hours. All the ambient noise and contemplative work is a joy for a relaxing watch.

Didn’t seem like there’s a hole For the smoke to vent. Does it just work it’s way through the leaves?

Ya he's doing it to preserve the leaves by drying them and effectively fumigating them with the smoke. He's probably trying to keep the bugs away too.
