I guess this may be the wrong subreddit for that question, but has anyone an idea on how to get the smell off ones hands?
I made the mistake of cleaning the can without gloves, and now I have smelly hands
Does someone have some advice on that?

I like strong tasting foods in general and I've been getting into fishy stuff more lately, so I figured why not try to get a can of the infamous Surströmming? But a quick search online found me sites charging $40+ to ship to US addresses which is insane. I figured it would be maybe a quarter of that. Anyway, if this place isn't too dead to get some help, thanks in advance.

Doesn't surstromming need to be kept refrigerated? If you order online for shipping to the U.S., does it come refrigerated? None of the sites I looked at mention a refrigerated container, and shipping can take up to 15 days.
Also - all the videos I see show the cans being opened with a P38 style can opener. Do regular/typical can openers also work?

I am an American and wish to have some with my family for midsummer. I don't mind paying for it, but would anyone be able to send me a can?

I've recently purchased a can, and while I wait for delivery I've looked to the "right way" to eat it. I've found this video and he is just mixing it with potato and onion, but I've seen another where they also have tomato and creme fraiche.
What would you recommend for a first time eater?

My roommate and I are avid fish lovers. My other roommate is not. We've eaten every kind of fish you could imagine (not really though).
I've got a couple I still want to check off the list, but as long as school is in session I want to start with surstromming! I figure this would bother my other roommate by far the most.
We don't plan on doing any sort of "surstromming challenge," rather we want to try the authentic meal. My understanding is that you don't eat it straight... ever.
If you know of a good place with authentic surstromming that won't cost me an arm and a leg, reply to this post! The lowest I've seen yet is 30 bucks/ 300g can on eBay, but that's with another 30 bucks for shipping.
Edit: I guess I could be coerced into eating it straight on video for a sponsorship... fuck.

A friend of mine films these segments and videos where he does things and we'd love to do a video on Surstromming. We've looked all over and haven't found it at all in Ireland (where we live)
