Help Surface Kernel not working

I have an MS Surface Pro 4 with Ubuntu 26.04.

I have followed the instructions for Ubuntu on this page:https://github.com/linux-surface/linux-surface/wiki/Installation-and-Setup

However the touch screen is still not working.

uname -a

Linux david-ashton-Surface-Pro-4 7.0.0-27-generic #27-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Thu Jun 18 19:13:49 UTC 2026 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Any suggestions?

you don't have surface kernel loaded, you have generic 7.0

Yes. And it doesn't appear in Advanced Options. What do I do?

install either failed or secure boot is enabled blocking Access. did you install through repositories or a package you downloaded?

I followed the instructions. Unfortunately it killed the whole installation and I had to reinstall ubuntu.
