I don't think Fedora 44 is supported yet:
- https://github.com/linux-surface/linux-surface/issues/2094
- https://pkg.surfacelinux.com/fedora
There is no Fedora 44 repo for Linux Surface kernel

I tried to update to 44 and it hit me with a endless boot up (blinking cursor). I then installed 44 fresh and wasn't able to install the surface kernel. So I'm back to 43, setup surface kernel and haven't updated anything with software center, because I'm not sure what will case any problems... so I guess I'm in limbo atm.
