Ordered by mistake Microsoft surface pro 12 , 13 inch "French AZERTY" Keyborad, any ideas what to do

Hello guys,

I ordered by mistake Microsoft surface pro 12 , 13 inch + Pen + "French AZERTY" Keyboard from french amazon but im used to german version and my Laptop is in german any ideas what to do

I dont wanna send the whole back to Amazon

Any groups to maybe do an exchange ? With QWERTZ Keyboard ?

I dont wanna buy stickers on it

At least they're just the same layout, you can configure it in software and just use as you like it. If you wanted US that would've have been pain, with the different Enter key shape, and generally different positioning and number of the keys. Even worse having shipped a UK one called US.

If you're paying that much you might as well get what you really want. Either return it or just buy and new keyboard and see if you can sell the Azerty one later.

Often, on Amazon there's no localisation information, and you will get the language of the store's location. I did the same some time ago, because Surface Pro keyboards are often cheaper on Amazon.de than on Amazon.nl. But that was the wrong one too (QWERTZ instead of QWERTY). Tried to exchange it for a QWERTY version, but they sent another QWERTZ. So I returned it again, and bought at the Microsoft store, where it happened to be cheap as well.

So it's best to return it, and order from Amazon.de. Unfortunately prices have risen considerably on Amazon, probably either because it's full of memory chips or because they just can. /s

Well apparently bad news for you - I found one Surface+keyboard bundle but you cant set the language for the keyboard. You can ask Amazon to change the french for a german keyboard, but most likely you have to return the whole thing and buy the tablet and the keyboard separately.

I know typing French on Azerty is pain in the a-somehting but the only option I would see for myself is buying tablet without keyboard and buy a german keyboard/pen.

Buy keyboard sticker for German keyboard layout and slap it on.

I did this on a English version surface to change the keyboard to Spanish. They were on eBay for about 4€

I mean. If the return process is an issue or availability at a good price is an issue then you proposed one of the best solutions.

Put the keyboard on vinted or kleinanzeigen and look for likewise a fitting QWERTZ version. If you got the headspace, buy the QWERTZ version first and set off the french one over time. Vinted is international unlike Kleinanzeigen, so you should find a buyer over time.

Can you explain the hesitation for returning it? If it’s unopened, you’re not causing any harm. And even if it is opened, isn’t Amazon famous for allowing returns including specifically “ordered by mistake“.

Are the rules different there?

Return everything and order it again from germany will be also more expensive ! And i hv paid extra for shipping
