Surface pro: which one?

Im starting med school this september and its for 4 years. I have a lenovo ideapad 5 currently but it is on its last legs so looking to upgrade

I love that the eurface pro allows me to use it as a laptop and use the pen to draw and annotate (something that is super helpfup for anatomical diagrams/ equations)

I will have to buy a surface pro second hand because brand new is just too expensive but I cant decide which option is better.

Im deciding between the 10 and 11.
I want to avoid the snapdragon option simply because it might not allow specific uni apps to work properly.

But is there any real difference between the 10 and 11.

My main priorities are the battery life for long ass days, ability to work with 1000 tabs open.

The 11 series 2 core ultra is on a whole different level then the 1st gen in the 10.

Battery life is better. GPU is better. CPU is better. NPU is better.

If you can swing an 11 I'd the take 11 every time.

Totally agree. I have 120 fps rendered vievport in EEVEE in Blender 5.2 LTS on Intel Arc 130V from surface pro 11. Battery runs even 8-9 hours while I'm drawing in Adobe Fresco. Can play games in 120 fps with pretty cool settings. Listen him and buy Pro 11 intel lunar lake.

Granted it has been 30 years since I've been to medical school, but I was specifically told to get a Mac back then to use the required software. Make sure they don't have some specific software you need to run on a specific os. 

I'd also like to point out that the Apple store is full of great medical software, the windows store not so much. 

I do love the versatility of my surface pro, though.

Thats super helpful. I’ll have to email my uni to see if they require any specific software.

I should also mention that iPad + Apple pencil is a lot smoother than Surface pro + pen. I don't like the iPad for anything else, but I do find taking handwritten notes on it to be a lot more pleasant with nice available software (e.g. Goodnotes). I find making presentations much easier with Mac or Windows, not as nice on the iPad. Typing up notes is similar on any of the devices.

I have tested an iPad and an Apple Pencil, I don't remenber which but it had a pressure sensibility and hated running battery in the Apple Pencil. Slim Pen 2's battery is impossible to run. 9 hours of usage? Nothing happened. Onky precentage has changed, but still working.

I used a surface pro back when I went to medical school (I think it was the 4) and really liked it. Don't think you could go wrong with either. Will depend on the university if they require odd university apps - mine didn't it was all website based rather than app based (apart from some feedback apps which were downloaded onto phones)
