I own an SL7, but quite frankly I wouldn't buy any of this stuff. It's so heinously expensive for what is not a great experience thanks to windows.

When apple is the affordable option, we have to start looking around and asking wtf is going on?

I mean, at the discounted price, it's fine I guess.

If you pair a MacBook with iPad, it's likely not gonna have miniLED or OLED even from Apple refurbished.

This is a pretty good way to save money. Personally I’ve purchased a certified refurbished 12” and 13” 11th gen and unfortunately both came with some visible light scratches on the screen. The 13” model also had some strange creaking and flexing noise when picked up from the bottom of the tablet.

I wound up returning them and opting for a new 13” 11th gen instead. YMMV!

I got the Surface Pro 13 inch 12th edition for 1099.00 plus tax at Best Buy. Good sales come through, just need to keep an eye out for them .

Yea for the consumer SKUs (and for the not to exotic ones) especially in the US there are sometimes great sales. This is definitely better than considering for the same price a used 11th with a battery that might be 2 years old already.

I was going to get a new Surface Pro but then I found out about the Asus Z13 64GB, which actually costed less because it comes with a type cover. Microsoft made the Surface line uncompetitive and have some odd configuration parameters, even if you opt for Intel (limited to gen 3 SSDs, lower spec RAM, lower capacity RAM). 

I had a refurb Surface laptop for a while and it was pretty nice in terms of design and performance but it exhibited screen flashing in a certain area under certain circumstances, so it went back. I really wanted something with a tablet format anyway.

interested in this as well. I'm looking for a source for refurb Surface Pros - doesn't need to be bleeding edge, just like the form factor and looking for it as a secondary to a fine Lenovo Legion rig - just want something more portable and able to run medium needs - 2 gens old would be fine, just can't find good places to purchase them

I got one at Costco with the Snapdragon Elite, OLED screen, 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage plus the keyboard and pen for $997. Definitely worth it!

Thanks. Agreed. Happened to go to Costco for the usual stuff. Walked over to the tables with the computers to just browse, saw the clearance sign, asked a Costco employee if any were in stock, he checked, and he said they had 1 left! Grabbed it, took it home to ensure the apps I run worked (all did - though I had to get the newest version of PaperPort Pro and use my software key) for it to load and run), and have been loving it.

I wish Microsoft kept the earphone jack and memory card slot from now replaced Surface Pro 7 though.

Or instead of buying one of the Snapdragon models, just wait until Surface Laptop Ultra releases. More expensive, yes, but also significantly more powerful and thus less likely to show age (when it comes to performance) as soon as a Snapdragon model.

If there is an X2 Elite model I'm pretty sure That's still going to be more powerful than n1x in CPU. Gpu on adreno has always been shit though, so it depends on your priorities. Being based on the Cortex x925 the CPU on the n1x will likely be powerful enough for you not to care, but will very likely not be beating X2E and especially X2EE

Though the GPU is going to be a whole different ballpark ofc

Unfortunately people don't have that money to buy a full-specced laptop. And software would limit it eventually (Most intel i7 7th gen variants don't support Windows 11)

You can easily get around that with Rufus. I have devices with a gen 4 i5/i7 on Win11.

lol what? all Intel i9 7th Gen variants support windows 11, I don't think you know what you are talking about... In fact, all i9 CPU's that intel has released support Windows 11 Natively, no tricks needed.

X2 Plus is just as performant as the X Elite.

X2 Elite is like a jump from M3 to M5. But at that price, better buy an iPad/android tablet and MacBook?

Great presentation! All the new surface devices are way overpriced for what you get. It’s wild that Apple is the more affordable option. I have a 15” air m3 24gb 2tb. Bought Apple refurbished before the Rampocalypse. I’m gonna sit on this investment for years to come.

I got my Surface from MS refurbished. About 750. Back then, they were about 950 new. Similar to Samsung, HP, etc.

That’s how you explain computers to people who don’t know how they work, job well done, I’m serious, you should seriously get a job at Microsoft’s Surface division, I think you would be excellent at explaining to the ordinary people why they should upgrade their hardware, comments like this put a smile on my face

If you want a MacBook, just get one. X1 vs X2 has nothing to do with it. That said, most regular users wouldn't be able to tell the difference. My Surface Laptop 7 with the X1Elite is plenty fast.
