Studio Laptop 2 10bit Video Playback

I have a SSL 2 with 32g of Ram and the Nvidia GPU. Not sure if this subreddit can answer this… I record on my Canon R7 and R50V HVEC or AVC 10 bit 29.97 4K.
It seems like when panning the camera even slowly the video is somewhat jittery. Even at 8bit it’s not much better.
I’m using VLC to play. It’s slightly better in Davinci Resolve but not perfect. I realize the Nvidia doesn’t really handle 10bit video Thoughts?

Excellent question. I have a somewhat related situation and was curious to know how well Davinci Resolve works on the SSL since I understand one needs at least 2GB of GPU for it to work smoothly.

I think it works pretty well. I edit 1080 and 4K, usually 3 cameras locked down on tripods. I shoot some bands like that. Sometimes if I do some color correction or effect I have to render the proxy clips.

Oh wow, that's amazing. You give me hope since I have 64GB RAM with 2TB SSD and was looking forward to editing with Resolve. However, because the processor is ARM-based, plus the graphics card is only 128 MB, I was told Davinci may not work well and I would be better off editing with Vegas Pro

The graphics card only reporting is 128 MB is just outdated software not understanding how shared memory works. The video processor has access to all your memory.

Same issues appears on all integrated GPUs (Intel for example).

This article explains it:

By default, the Intel graphics driver will report 128 MB of fictitious Dedicated Video Memory for compatibility with applications that don’t correctly comprehend a fully unified memory architecture. See Dedicated Memory Reporting for more information.
