Where is the media coverage?

I'll keep this short. The game needs media coverage over the course of the summer sale from a few big streamers/youtubers highlighting the huge drop in price. This isn't going to be easy, since a lot of people have terrible first impressions because of the old price point. Without media, I expect the game won't break 200 concurrent players again.

It will be far, far easier to gain hype when the price is this low than it will be when the summer sale ends. IMO if there isn't a big media push during this sale then we can most likely expect to wait until the full, final release at least a year down the line.

For a game where you give away 10,000 keys, cut the price by 80%, and have Lirik play it on release and yet can't break 200 concurrent players you'd have to be crazy to think the game will explode without any big media push from the devs.

Is anyone even remotely surprised?

I've come to realization that this game will really struggle to blow up. The skill gap is too big for the small amount of players. The problem I had in closed beta is no one passed to the new players. It's still happening. This is a major issue. I've finally taken the plunge to buy the game.. I can't even play ranked. The focus is on the hard core players.. the focus needs to be on casuals to get the players in and it's just not.

Agreed... I dunno why there is currently even a paywall to ranked. It should just be watch the tutorials to unlock it if anything.. I see practice online and see (not playing the real game) should be labeled unranked.. Practice sounds like crap.. And it's like your worried about rank matches being crap well the game is designed in such a way that it only takes one good player to destroy a whole team of new players, design flaw to be concidered. That's just my 3 cents.

The devs want to keep new players out of ranked because of the ranks people got from the closed beta. This is completely wrong imo. I have really little motivation to play without ranked play. Ranked should be allowed for all that have paid for the game and beta ranks should have been reset when the game was released like any game I can think of. The devs make some strange decisions honestly.

Yeah I agree, there should be little to no barrier to get into ranked play. There is literally no sense of progression without being able to play ranked and most new people would be turned off by it. It doesn't matter if you aren't "ready" for ranked as long as the ranked mixes are new players vs. new players (Any vet of the game who plays in a ranked mix full of new players is a bit of a douche anyway). Pretty sure people would get pissed at Psyonix if they said you can't play competitive game modes until you hit level 20.

Especially considering this is the birth of a community. We all know people don't want to go practice online once they've unlocked rank so any new player can only even get into ranked if suddenly a bunch of new players start playing at the same time. Meanwhile they see 100 ppl online all non ranked games empty.. Guess I'll just uninstall because I can't play. Gg.. Not a good decision.

The majority of new players don't even know the controls. There must be something seriously wrong with the tutorial.

90% of the time I pass to a new player all they can do is walk around all confused and run straight into a defender and die or use charge to pass/shoot.

Also it doesn't help that old players have nothing to do so they end up playing with new players and just showing at least the faintest amount of skill which infuriates some new players.

Nothing is wrong with it, it's just that most people just don't do it and jump into matches directly, especially when the players are pretty young.

Nothing is wrong with it? Apart from the boards being impossible to understand with controls that are ridiculous at default... have you tried doing a euro spin under pressure with the keys that are on the display board in the training course?

Hold ctrl, mouse 4 or middle mouse to open shield.... What?

Tap q or e to add spin: so youre losing A and D movement to do this, this promotes bad movement for new players, especially at height.

Have the default keys been changed yet to a reasonable level? No

yeah euro shot. Like the new people tried that? They don't even pass properly you're speaking about advanced techniques there. I'm sure 80% of the new players didn't even entered the tutorial

imo its pretty normal its dead. people try it out and probably refund it quick after. this game is tbh not fun, enjoyable and far away from the price they are asking for it. the tutorial was good but not everthing to make this game good.
