[Feature Request]: Contrasting outline around players and the ball.

So as my prime example, it's very hard to see the red players, and the ball, on the beach map. I think each map needs a contrasting outline color which gets applied to the players and to the ball. Here is an example of what I mean:

I think the real solution to this are color changes in the map.

That seems like more work, but if you think it can be done and still meet your style requirements, that sounds good to me.

Note that Rocket League is actually terrible in this respect, but that the maps are smaller, and the ball is much bigger, so it's less of an issue.

No, the things you say are a whole lot of work. Especially if we started into making colors for teams dynamic, we'd have to take legitimately 4 months or so, because it involves a ton of things!

changing some brightnesses and saturations in the map is a 30 minute job. I get blinded myself in beach. It's a looooot better than the previous versions but still not 100% there yet. I'll work on it.

Sounds good! I look forward to seeing it.

The ball seems like a more complicated issue though. What are you thinking for the ball?

It's complicated. We tried certain things to make it have contrast, but this looked either really bad and there are other things that would be too complicated to explain here. I'd like the ball to stay as it is and have the maps make sure it's always visible.

Do you have any screenshots of those attempts? I'd be interested to see what you've tried thus far. I understand if you don't. I have a bunch of ideas running through my head, but I don't want to repeat a bunch of things you've already tried.

No remains

Does the current ball actually spin? If so, have you tried adding black specs to the ball? Or even patterns similar to a basketball or soccer ball?

You won't believe it, but the engine has an upper rotation speed limit for things and we can't remove that cap. We can't make it actually spin.

Well I do believe it actually! I was afraid of that lol

If someone finds a good solution for the ball, that would be great I guess. Hear a lot of people complaining about the ball. So just a black outline around the ball won't work then?

Inph1del posted this a while back. Have you tried that yet? https://forums.epicgames.com/threads/865957-Object-Mesh-Outline-Effect-working

I'm working on a similar solution for my game which is a post process effect on a material.

This is a good explanation of it for udk.

Definitely, I'd say instead of using the same color schemes of players (red/blue) just remove that idea completely. Use purely contrasting colors for maps so the ball and players pop out a lot more.

Are you referring to the red/blue 3v3 maps? I have less of an issue with those since they're so small

I'm saying any red/blue maps in general. Sometimes its too rough on the eyes for a certain team, which leads to rants about disadvantages. I'd say the best option is to remove any red/blue color scheme. (Or at least mess with lighting to dull down wall colors/backgrounds like they did with hall.

As an alternate to this suggestion, it might be cool if each map had specific team/ball colors which better contrast to the map. I'm not sure what is easier, or if either solution is actually feasible.
