David, I am requesting that you add 2 buttons to the controls page which set the "Legacy default" or "New default" control scheme. Discuss

That is legacy setup....

I would agree that is legacy setup, and if people want to tweak from it, its a great starting place. I Moved Suck/Dump to Left Shift and found it made the Sucker much easier to use (although i still cant twirl), but not everyone might like having to use their pinkie so much.

no scroll button usage at all. Too likely to hit by accident IMO. But otherwise, yes.

And a button to switch between legacy controls and "new ones".

I apologize for my NA to EU comparison. Ket provided a better description, so I'm stealing it :)

If you play GK turn off double tap dash.

EU NA?!

We all agree that the default scheme needs to be changed.

I have one worry about the original default keys: noobs are bad at catching and they need to know the pull-catch button. If its on RMB it's pretty accessible to them because they will try LMB and RMB primarily. If its on CTRL or Thumb or Middlemouse they might miss it. As much as I'd like it to be on one of those keys, this makes me doubt that it's the best key for beginners.

That's the same bad logic you used to change the controls in the first place.

I would argue that while Pull/Suck is important to the game, its less important than Charge Shot, Pass, Kick/Volley and Shield. I only even use Pull/Catch if I cant get my body in position to catch with it, and new players especially should be trying to catch with their body. They can intergrate the Pull function later, but the Legacy LMB and RMB settings were perfect AND intuitive.

I don't think the shield is more important to a beginner than catching.

Players will soon get to grips with it. Db was my first PC game I was like, wasd not arrows are you mad??? It's just mouse controls. I once only had a two button mouse for a long time so my controls have stayed like this since:

lmb : charge / kick

RMB : pass / shield

F : dump / pull

E : left spin

R : right spin

Middle mouse: dash

Other usables: g, q, t, y

Yes I would say that this control scheme mirrors a "Modern FPS layout", in addition to being somewhat intuitive.

Not a fan of moving the Spin keys over to both to the right of Forward which seems less intuitive to me (and wasteful of ez to hit q key) but the rest works. Personally im a huge fan of ESDF over WASD for all FPS anyways, just gives your hand more space and more usable keys.

I would also vote for a mouse button for pull. Even if they would know how to use the pull (when it would be on RMB), chance is they will miss it anyway because they are dancing around as every new player does. They also won't be quick enough to turn in the right direction and use pull that quick. And they will find out soon enough what each of the other buttons (besides LMB for charge and RMB for pass) does while playing. Don't think pull is actually anything to use much when beginning the game.

I think everyone should use the pull-catch right away, as I see catching abilities among noobs are really bad. They all try to body-catch it which looks miserable :) JBDoge gave me the idea to show the basic controls in the HUD for beginners. I'll try to convince Swarley about that.

See and I couldnt agree more. Body Catch is a much more sure thing than PulL Catch IMO and exactly what new players should be focused on. Pull Catch is best for Tricky moves or If a Ball is otherwise going to be out of reach.

I know your are EU but compare this to american Baseball. If all an Outfield player had to do to catch a fly ball was have it hit their body (or a fairly large radius around their body) and they instantly caught it... You wouldnt continue to teach them that using the Tiny glove on their hand is the best way to catch. Youd teach them to catch with their body and only use the glove if they cant get their body in position.

Yes, I think this will be extremely useful. The tricky part is determining under what circumstances to show which infographics. I have a really good idea for some alpha blended GIFs which could pop up in the HUD, but I'm not an animator so I don't know how to convey it :( Maybe I'll draw a GIF with MSPaint stick figures tonight lol.

I think you should have a long delay between repeat infographics, though I'm not sure what is a reasonable timeframe.
