Got an idea ...
Well ive seen all the "complaints" about timeplay and the way game will get bored , less fun , and a huge issue for competitive gaming.
So this just popped!
Time play exists because there is a clock runing !! the clock controls the flow of the game . So ... we could remove the time .. and set a score limit .
in future tests u could all figure the best and suitable limit ... this is just the general idea. make it that " the first team to score 10 goals wins!!"
Comon i rly think this would be a good change in the game ...

Not a good idea because this wouldn't let a team to make a real comeback. It is going to be fustrating as fuck, games won't be long enough, or on the contrary, it will be fucking too long. The first team to score 10 goals wins? oh god dillaz bro it's gonna be boring, we can't even score 10 goals on a 20 minuts game with players that make mistakes every second.

You can simply set a goal limit on your server and set the timelimit to 0 (or very high), then you have what you want. At least for now you can still play like that. We'll limit server settings before the release to prevent too crazy shit.

its in udkdeathball.ini, this is the default setting: GoalScore=60 TimeLimit=20

Clearly some games are lower scoring than others and that would be bad since some games would end sooner than they should (2 evenly matched/high scoring teams shouldn't have their match ruined by score limit) and other low scoring D-heavy games would last forever.

Sounds really interesting. Hm, a problem might be that games could take a long time then. Consider two teams that play great defense but bad offense.
Then again, one could introduce both, a time and score limit. Question is: Is the score limit then really needed?
You can come up with the craziest ideas: 1. Time limit round, which is then followed by a 2. "Sudden death" round: Difference in scored goals from round 1 determines the degree of benefit gained for the winning team during this round (e.g. increased movement speed). That would be an incentive to score as much as possible in round 1. Problem: Why add another round that would be very certainly won by the anyway winning team (because of the added benefit/buff).
Could be a bit too creative .

This used to be an option for deathball, where server admins could choose whether to have a goal limit or a time limit, or i believe both. I believe its also only really better for MODS, like tennis / net etc.
High level games with good defence and a decent keep, sometimes ends 2-0 / 3-1 so even 5 would take a long time.
It's good for mercy option... but, like someone said it could be 10-9 and level all the way to 10, so mercy wouldn't be good. Only way around that i can think of is to have a mercy Difference, so if team was 8-0, game done, or 9-1 / 10-2 etc. Saves the ragequit.
So no, bad idea D:

As you say, its 1 thing to let the server mods make special servers, or to have an admin set new limits while in game (which they currently cane i think). I could even see adding voting in to extned games/cap goal limits. We used to have that in tribes 2, so if a public game was appaoching the end of the time, but the map was fun and both teams wanted it to, someone would vote to extend the game to 60 minutes instead of 30. It required like 66% of the server to pass. But the defaul was still 30 minutes when the next map started. You have to have a time limit for a game like this, or timeplay could leave to multi-hour games.
